A better question is: Why did the power go out so easily?
  • @Offatabb1999
Bro this happens twice in two months, ridiculous, how can we not get through a level 1 is beyond me.
  • @lilbuddhapct
It’s strange that Florida has category 2, 3 and even 4, and the power rarely turns off, and yet a derecho and category 1 can devastate Houston. Houston…we have a problem.
  • @Albert-the-Astro
How about tell us the areas that have had their power restored. Instead of just reading the website.

A cat 1 comes ashore 80 miles south of Houston and now 85% of Harris County is dark. What's wrong with this picture?
  • @Ezyy2005

  • @tammywarford3721
Galveston has no business open no gas stations and not one damn center point truck in Galveston. BS
  • @jazfowco8822
CenterPoint turns the power off! And You will notice, the affluent neighborhoods get the power back first! At least where I live in Galveston....

"DO NOT USE EXTENSION CORD" This is just WRONG. What it should have said is "DO NOT USE A 'SUICIDE' CORD" to back feed power into your house's wiring. Extension cords are fine to use and should be used in order to keep the generator far away from living spaces to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning/deaths. Just make sure the extension cord you use is rated to handle the power. Longer cords require thicker conductors. Don't cheap out on it. (when you think about it, your house is chock full of "extension cords" between the breaker panel and the outlets; their conductors are sized appropriately for those runs)

Can't believe that the grid is so frail after only a Cat 1 storm. Imagine if it was a Cat 5 storm.

Houstonians it's about to get hot today 🥵 please let's not panic , if you have elders in the neighborhood, check on them . We got to stick together and stay in prayer. If you have a outdoor carport you can get in the car and turn on the A/C but don't try that if the garage isn't open . The energy company should be ashamed as much as they make us pay them and gauge energy prices up. Energy is more than rent in Houston.

Yea it's like pointless to even have a generator when fuel is 2 hours away might as well sleep in your vehicle
