  • Kale picked in the warm months (and this goes for collards as well) will become sweet if you put it in the freezer for 10 minutes after harvesting.
  • Girl I missed you, you were just what the doctor ordered. The garden was hot and I was sweating bullets, but came, sat down tuned you up and instantly got laughter, thx for being you. Asia you're a breath of fresh air on a crispy hot day.

I am fairly new to the channel. To be blunt, there are so many things that make it worth watching. This will be my first gardening cycle with you. I have learned a great deal of tips, here and there. I am mostly seeing the principles practiced and learning from the outcomes. My indoor grow bag gardening has improved because of you. I also want you to know that something about the way you harvest makes me feel just as happy as if I were doing it. I love that everyone who chooses to garden is able to. While you were not the target of my goals, being able to share your garden shows that WE ALWAYS had the right to garden. In some states, they "tried to pretend" people were not allowed to garden anymore. Many older residents told me how the state of Florida forced them to STOP sharing and trading food. It was a way to force people to go to the supermarket and eat foods of lesser quality. I am happy to see you in this space. Just wanted to tell you...enjoy all that hard work! And girl, you are a tough woman...machetes are for snakes as snakers are for falcons. LOL. I know it sounds crazy but I love a good story about how I ran down a snake with a machete as a "opening joke" when people say gardening is boring. Like NO...not when snakes show up and try to be friends. LOL. Everyone loves squirrels but snakes...yeah not happening. LOL.

Asia, please do not let your fears prevent you from doing what you enjoy. I used to be very afraid of snakes but I enjoy gardening and have been gardening for over 10 years. Love your content. You're doing a great job!
  • I see snakes multiple times a day at my job and in my home garden. We have tiny brown snakes which are good garden friends. As long as snakes are nonvenemous, they can stay. Venomous ones I will try to call someone to relocate.
  • Oh Asia, I'm SO sorry you encountered a serpent!😢😱 I've been extremely nervous about getting my tiny garden started for this very reason. I only do containers and elevated raised beds (can't stand slugs, groundhogs, cats, etc., touching my food🤮). Still, be encouraged and know that you are Such an inspiration to So many of us!♥
  • I've heard if you plant Sage it repells snakes. It worked for over 35 years. Thank you for sharing this journey. This is about the size I will have to work with.
  • @Perennielle
Ooohhhh comfrey fertilizer!! I never knew you could do that!! I’m excited. Thank you!!
  • I am living vicariously through you right now! I moved and left established garden, and am in the process of creating another, so no Spring harvest this year. I make my own fertilizer as well, and yes it STINKS! But it works great!

This is why i grow my brassicas in container pots and my chinese napa cabbage. I put vaseline all around the middle of my pots to stop slugs etc ftom crawling up in the pot to eat my brassicas and napa cabbage. Especially when it rains is when all these gross slugs like to come out. But putting vaseline outside of the pots work really really good!

Try the lemon balm in your tuna salad. You're welcome 😋 Just discovered your channel..LOVE IT!
  • @SugahShy
You might want to move your mint plants into containers. Mint and mint relatives have a way of taking over garden beds. Save your Lamb's Ear in a large planter. It's good for wound care.
  • @ahutton49
Hey sis you ever tried plating marigold flowers mixed in with your greens. Most bugs dont like it and it worked very well when I had my garden. Your garden looks amazing.
