Far from traffic lights or chain stores is a remote valley that a family has called home for decades. For almost 50 years, they've refined their approach to homesteading. Join me for an eye-opening journey into this life grounded in self-reliance. ► Contact Dano & Robin: [email protected]

This is the life I dream of. Not Lamborghini's, not millions of followers/fans, but peace and quiet. And a connection with nature. That is the peak of life.

"Avocado is definitely more important than tv". As an avocado lover and a homestead/permaculture dreamer, that's the best line ever!!

Back in the 90s this is how we lived in the Hokianga in the far North of New Zealand. No electricity, no phones. Living mostly off the land. Our 5 sons grew up this way until we moved away. If your in a great climate like these people are, you can grow so much food. There are still lots of people living this way in New Zealand. Such a peaceful way of living.

He is right though. We are suppose to work little bit, then drink tea and tell stories then work little more

I was really sad hearing her say that her husband got tired of her and left her and the two year old little girl. But it seems like she had a wonderful man step in who was willing and happy to raise her and be a great dad. This seems like a dream childhood to grow up in nature like this. Also for Robin, it seems like she found her soul mate. Somehow who wanted to live the same life as she did, and they’ve clearly had a very long lasting marriage. Sometimes when something falls apart, it’s so that something better can fall into place.
  • I'm 73yrs young but if I was a few years younger I'd be out there in a heartbeat. Dano and Robin are a couple of real live 'Hippies' living the life that many a hippie only dreamt of. Stay young guys. 😎 👍 Love from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thank you for covering actual Homesteaders with a real long track record of actually walking-the-walk. Ive been watching homesteading content creators come and go on Ytube for over a decade. They are usually young, and inexperienced, presenting themselves as teachers, and in a few years their homesteading "teaching" channels go poof, and they disappear back into normie land. These guys really have what it takes for us to learn from, including true grit and wisdom from experience.

The biggest lesson we can take is that the guys without internet and TV got way more knowledge and wisdom than us. Beautiful documentary!
  • Ngl, I am so envious of their natural escape. Learning and living to appreciate life, not social media life.
  • Love the couple! They seem to have a young energy that is younger than most young people now. Their sense of being alive and humor is also so alive!
  • I cant believe ive been living in Lahaina since 2007 and staring at Molokai wondering what goes on on that island and here we are. Dont let the politicians see this place.
  • @Roselyroses
Seeing no people for 2 weeks? Sounds like heaven. Find your peace, freedom and productivity away from the abyss.
  • @rzella8022
I liked the way she looked at him as he was talking; strong loving supporting relationship.
  • “We were on mars in the 80s” I love this guy. What an amazing couple. Great video
  • Unlike the majority of online content, this stuff feeds my soul 🙏🏻🥰

Peter, if we only understood how liberating it is to be outside of the norm, I used to live the same way (did not have my first burger until I was a teen), lived off the land and had my most memorable experiences. Then, I traded it for the United States and have been chasing the dream ever since. Don’t get me wrong, I had an amazing life and accomplished a lot, but when you age and all you got to show for is stuff, the reality of what you left behind hits you.
  • I think everyone in the world should be living just like this because it's natural and close to God even God had a garden.
