My teenage self dyed my hair red so fast after seeing Shirley for the first time. Then I went to school with a little mod A-Line mini dress and some knee boots and a boy told me “you look like that girl from Garbage” and I could’ve died happy.

Shirley radiates confidence. She doesn’t TALK about she has it—she lives it. Right off the bat her comment about going first because they know how she is. She doesn’t apologize for being who she is. Her lyrics always are rooted in a position of strength. If you think otherwise you are simply missing her sense of irony.
