  • Thank you for this. I had never heard of this engine until yesterday, and you let me hear what it sounds like.
  • Just watched the junkyard gold with a tempest Sprint in it, what an amazing feat of engineering. Still proves that the 30s- the 60s that American engineering was a standard all its own, the best, in ways. Perhaps only the Germans could compete at those times. It's sad most of that has withered away...
  • I just bought a 67 Tempest with the OHC 6. I've been looking for one of these engines for several years. I cannot wait to tear into it and see if it will run again as it has been parked for decades.

  • @yuvegotmale
that ohv 6 sounds similar to the dohv Jaguar 6 cyl engine
  • @stevegroot5347
It's seems to have a close ratio transmission which works great with that engine.

This sounds amazingly like a Cummins i6 motor... I know both i6... But I didn't expect it to sound like a diesel

I purchased one of these brand new. Had to order it actually. It was my first new car and I had saved up and paid cash for it. Sadly it needed the crank shaft ground at about 100 miles. It wouldn't stop pinging and I believe the compression was too high for the octane of the gasoline. The sweetest part of this rare bird engine is that it was similar in design to the Jaguar XKE, the car of my dreams. It even sounded a little like it. I ended getting completely soured on GM because they wouldn't stand behind their product. Ended trading it for a 1967 VW bug. The girls loved that car.
