Morray's career is currently sinking deep in quicksand and as each day passes it is only getting worse. Just 4 years ago following his breakout hit Quicksand with over 200 million views on YouTube alone, in addition to then joining J. Cole on The Off Season Tour, North Carolina artist Morray was one of the most buzzed about upcoming names. However these past 2 years have been the complete opposite for him in terms of success... In this video we see what happened to Morray.

  • This is why I believe many artists should stay independent & build a loyal fan base & buzz on their own💯

Dude really can sing, his career is not over
  • @K_Diggy
Morray didn’t understand the industry. He was signed off 1 song and Morray didn’t have enough music for people to listen prior to his album. When artists skip the grind they miss the opportunity to create a core fan base.

Morray is one of the few that deserve to still be on fr. Got his own style, he was a breath of fresh air when he dropped.

People don't seem to know how important owning your masters and being independent is. Prince didn't write slave on his face for nothing. When Prince label couldn't control him, they tried blackballing him, slandering him and spreading rumors about him. All because he wanted to renegotiate his contract and ad some fairness to it. He had to change his name and release his music under a symbol. He made 10 million dollars off of an album that he released independently. Independence is everything! Remember this.. "Your master recordings are your social security" - Prince 💜

I completely forgot this man existed 😂😂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂

As someone who's from Fayetteville I really hope Morray makes a comeback. It was a breath of fresh air seeing someone from Fayetteville blowing up cause it's hard to blow up from anything out here and he gave a little spotlight in the ville during that period.
  • See, this happens to a lot of artists. They get excited to join a label and end up getting mismanaged or signed to a shitty deal, leaving them with nothing. Just plaques. But the labels and their management will still get paid no matter what. That’s why it’s better to stay independent and build yourself up that way. You’ll own all the rights to your music and you’ll have total freedom.

Step 1 - Make good music Step 2 - Collect what you’re owed Step 3 - Buy real estate Step 4 - Return to step 1

He was probably too similar to Rod Wave for some people but he definitely has talent, “Quicksand” is a lockdown-era classic. But labels shelving albums is a tale as old as time. It’s basically a death sentence for an artist.
  • He had all the hype in the world in 2021 and then he was featured on J Cole’s album. Him or his label killed all his hype. He should’ve dropped another album in 2022
  • It’s something special about his music! When he rap he’s walking me through my childhood!!! Morray has something special!

I got high hopes for Morray. "Quicksand" instantly pulled me in and I know he can do it again. I just hope he learns what he needs to and elevates. 🙏🏾
  • Morray is so captivating! Dang! He's so cool and seemingly authentic.

He def got suckered into a 720. They don't even call them 360 any more. It's scary how artists like this just die and 1000x in value to the owner of the publishing.

  • @StealthySZN
