No One Can Say “Sorry” Quite Like A Canadian - Sandra Oh

Publicado 2024-04-19
Growing up in Canada, where an apology can sometimes mean much more than “sorry,” all Sandra Oh wanted was to move to New York and become a theater actor, which she’ll be doing this summer in a new off-Broadway show. Stick around for more with Sandra Oh and catch her performance Sundays on HBO in the new series, “The Sympathizer.”

I am so happy to see an actor like Sandra Oh doing so well. 20 years ago my wife and I saw her in Double Happiness about a Chinese-Canadian woman in a tug of war with her strict controlling father and passive mother. Her performance in that is fantastic making us hope that she would get noticed and given more work. She never disappoints, so smart and funny too.

Sandra is always fun to listen to. I love her energy.
  • I live in Buffalo, NY and I used to go to Canada all the time. I’ve always thought that the Canadian people were the nicest, most polite, and friendliest people in the world.
  • Sandra Oh is a Canadian national treasure, insanely talented actor and such a delightful human being

The way she said “Québécois” was so… Québécois 😆 (coming from a Québécoise)

Sandra…my homegurl from Nepean, Ontario, Canada. Such a talented, beautiful soul. Break a leg with your theatre gig, Sandra. Several years ago I was outlet shopping in NY State. The clerk who was ringing in my purchases said “ You must be Canadian”. I said “I am…how did you know?” She said “You just said Sorry three times”. 🤣😄 I can think of worse things to be accused of. 👍🇨🇦❣️

Sandra Oh has an infectious energy. A lot of late night guests, you feel like the host needs to steer the conversation and prompt them to open up, stay on topic, elaborate on earlier points... Sandra Oh is natural and open and has great repartee-- I imagine she must be fantastic onstage.

I truly enjoy a guest who is totally invested in the conversation! This was a joy to watch/listen/experience! Proud to be Canadian when I hear a fellow Canadian engage so well with Stephen.

Oh, Sanda, I love you. I've grown up watching her work over the last thirty years. She is so talented and so very fun; very kind. She deserves all the praise and accolades she gets. This is a tired phrase, but she truly in one of our nation's treasures.❤

Straight out of National Theatre School, Ms. Oh starred in Runaway, the Evelyn Lau story. Brilliant. Greetings from Montréal. She is a national treasure, but we will share her with the world.

We Canadians are masters of “sorry” and “eh”… and you can’t even try to get it right when you try to Imitate us. There’s more nuance in there than you can ever learn
