My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

6:31 "As a Franco-American" I LOVE that you said this - must feel so good!
  • What an amazing experience. Not only does volleyball have special meaning for you, you got to see the US team play Olympic volleyball. I bet you're so glad you stuck around for the JO!
  • Very cool! Thanks again for giving us the insider look! 🤗
  • You and Jess are such a lovely couple, I know its platonic , but feeling the love between you two is beautiful
  • I love the classic “Ope, sorry” from that person at the pizza stand - very midwestern United States 😅

It's so much fun following along with you. I work in an NHL hockey arena, and that's about the same price you'd pay here for a slice of pizza and a coke, so the prices seem on par for professional sporting events here (at least regular season events). It used to be pretty standard for concerts (though they've gotten away from it in the last year or two) that if someone bought a bottle of pop or water, we'd have to pour it into a cup because they didn't want people to be able to throw them.
  • What a great experience! The arena is so massive, its actually nice to see so many people in one place after 2019 etc
  • Great video - your enthusiasm is palatable and infectious. I live in a city that hosted the Winter Olympics and watching your videos brings tears to my eyes; it was an amazing 10 days and I wish I could repeat it. I envy you the experience of being in an Olympic city and wish I could be there. The vibe and energy in a city during the Olympics is impossible to adequately describe. All the naysayers who left made a very big mistake. France is doing a great job - congratulations to everyone involved - especially the volunteers who really make a difference to the experience; as locals who love their city they go out of their way to make the experience great for everyone.

So, I guess you are better off getting beer instead of soda... for the environment. 😉 We all need to do our part.
  • So cool! I saw the biathlon in Utah in 2002. Lots of fun to be a part of something so global.
  • Thanks for taking us along! It was a great way to experience the Olympics from afar

I watched this match on TV yesterday! Thanks for sharing your experience and showing us what we don't see on TV :)
  • Wow Jay AMAZING set up the French did for the Olympics from what I’ve seen. I do agree with your friend I wish it was in sand tho! No comparison but still awesome!
  • Thanks for these views of the event. You never see this stuff on tv. Someday, I hope I'm a franco american too!
  • LOVE IT!! I grew up playing volleyball and dreamt of playing in college/ Olympics! Michelle Green from the 1984 Team was my idol, because she was a setter and only 5'4" like me. Still love watching it! Thanks for bringing us along!!❤❤
  • Thanks for taking us along! I feel like I was right there, without having to wait in lines for the bathroom (there's always a line for the women's room...trust me!) or shell out 16 euros for meh pizza & a Coke. I do feel like a golden opportunity to wear your USA flag suit was missed, though. Perhaps another time!
