Aladdin and Jasmine should NOT have survived their own movie. No, not because of Jafar or any other Disney villain but because of one small scene: the magic carpet ride. There’s NO way Aladdin and Jasmine could have flown around the world in such a short amount of time. So today, we’re dissecting what REALLY would have happened. Grab your headset and start cranking up the Disney song jams because after watching this theory it will open up a whole new world of questions!

I always assumed that Genie used some sort of magic to warp reality to shorten the distance of the flight and to keep them alive at that altitude.
  • @shadowdragon3521
The irony of Disney taking dark fairy tales and sanitizing them to make family-friendly animated films only for Matpat to over-analyze them and make them dark again.
  • @lasercraft32
I love how he's going over the logistics of how flying so fast, and flying so high up, would threaten their health... while basically ignoring the fact that they are riding a magic carpet that realistically shouldn't exist let alone hold their weight midair.
  • @ChefForte
One minor correction. Aladdin, without even realizing it, phrased his request "make me a prince". Not "make me LOOK LIKE a prince". Genie does consider this a wish as when he brings up the count at other times, it's already counted. So, Aladdin is a prince. Phenomenal cosmic power may not change Aladdin's memories, but it very well may have changed his lineage given it's ability to not only warp space, but also time.

If its a magic carpet created specifically for flying, probably by so sort of wizard, it's probably got a physics-proof magical forcefield. At least, I'd definitely put one of those on my flying carpet
  • @makamiusless1954
I have a theory that the magic carpet wasn't just travelling, it's teleportation of some kind. During the moments between frames and scenes we could assume that the carpet teleported to another location in a blink, because they're above clouds most of the time, it'd be hard to spot the differences, allowing them to jump their way across the world like a sci-fi movie.
  • @HurricaneDDragon
Obviously, the “Whole New World” sequence was actually a montage of several dates that took place over many different nights during which Aladdin and Jasmine sang the same song together multiple times.
  • I just like to think that there is some sort of magical force field surrounding them and the magic carpet in the animated version, and that's how they survived.
  • @NekoEcho13
I haven't actually seen the live action version, but to be fair to it's version of A Whole New World, Jasmine was kept fairly sheltered to the point where she'd have to sneak out to see just the area's around the palace. For her, being able to see a bunch of the relatively local things she's never gotten to see in her homeland before WOULD be magical.
  • @DmXion
I actually don´t see much flaws on this theory the only possible way i can think of is that the magic carpet not only is magic and sentient, but creates some sort of magic windshield that would prevent them from breaking everything with that amount of forces applied to a human body, enjoy the content as always you brighten my work days thanks Mat Pat
  • @Nobody-ov9dh
Ok let’s cut short. Plot twist, everyone in Aladdin are aliens! But hey, that’s just a theory, a game theory! Thanks for watching<3
  • @TheKrensada
All of this falls apart when you realize that it is in fact a magic carpet. And not a mundane carpet, which doesn't fly and doesnt have the ability to take people to other countries at supersonic speeds while violating several laws of physics. Because as it has been clearly stated in the movie that it's a magic carpet.
  • @TheRaySkye
I always figured that carpet was enchanted with the ability to magically shield the riders from any force generated from the flight. This would allow the couple to ignore wind shear, O2 deprivation and freezing temps so they could enjoy their flight. Anything is possible when you are dealing with a sentient magic carpet right?
  • @tonybush4615
It's not just a "flying" carpet, it's a MAGIC carpet. It's also sentient.
  • @edgarvega4586
Now that raises the same question for another classic Disney film. How fast was Cinderella’s getaway from the Palace before the clock struck midnight? It’s a large area to cover in a small span of time to get back home.
  • @E.J.55
Matt forgot one thing... It's a magic carpet they specifically say magic carpet not flying carpet.
  • @JuQmadrid
That means the magic carpet also provides some kind of force field to protect its occupants from wind, temperature, and pressure loss.
  • @ceilinh6004
Carpet is a sentient, magical rug. It knows how to protect it's passengers. Everyone needs a friend like Carpet.
  • @acidcosti19
There is a reason why is called "magic" carpet, it protect the ones who ride it with a invisible shield from litteraly ANYTHING Beside, the geenie is not going to let the cuple die, so maiby he put a secret spell on them to be invincible wile riding that carpet
