Sony SUED Again!
French regulator fines Sony over third-party controller practices | VGC (videogameschronicle.com)
Sony has been fined 13.5 million euros by France’s antitrust regulator,
Sony implemented technical measures in 2015 to combat counterfeiting, which inadvertently affected the proper functioning of third-party controllers, making them disconnect during system updates.
Secondly, it said that rival companies were impeded from joining PlayStation’s licensing program, with access only granted through Sony’s partnership program.
Sony refused to communicate the program access criteria to manufacturers upon request, claiming that the criteria were applied at Sony’s discretion.
Sony is catching a lot of strays lately. The last lawsuit is in the UK and is built around the idea that by having just one storefront on the PS5 and taking 30% of every purchase, sony is forcing developers to passs that fee onto consumers.
They also lost the activision deal last year and while this might seem bad on the surface, I see it as a situation where they’re the company at the top and that’s going to result in people coming after them.
Sony Skipping PS5 for Horizon MMO?

The first important fact is that the game is listed on the profile of a developer with a logo reading 'Skyline Project.'
A domain has been registered for something called 'Land of Salvation' by NCSoft, suggesting that that could be the name for this 'Project Skyline' Horizon MMO.
The MMO is being made on Unreal Engine 5 and has been in development since 2021. The last staff check-in was in September 2023 when 140 employees were working on 'Project Skyline.' Apparently the game is expected around late 2024 or 2025.
The game might be released on PC and mobile, but not PS5.

My 1st Gen PS4 is still kicking. I had it since launch and played it a lot, and it still works. It's one of the best consoles I've owned considering that it never gave me problems. Felt sad when I had to put it away since I got a PS5 for Christmas. I hope my PS5 is as much of a workhorse as my PS4.

Uk class action case is because you can only buy ps digital games from Sony. You can get digital download codes from a number of websites for the Xbox and PC. You also have to realise that games in the uk (£70) are nearly 90 dollars for the base edition. So gaming in the UK is not cheap.

The lawsuit stems from not being able to purchase digital games from brick and mortar stores. Say, you can still buy a Switch game on a card from a store. So can Xbox. PlayStation no longer has them.

Sony weren’t just going after unlicensed controller makers by adding encryption to the PS5 protocol, they were also cutting off makers of cheating devices like the XIM and Chronos Zen. By requiring the use of encryption keys they can revoke devices if they don’t comply with the licensing requirements.

I have a dual sense edge. After 3 months of use, it became the very first controller I've ever had stick drift on, and I have controllers with thousands of hours of use. Is it a coincidence that I can buy an easily swapped replacement? And the rubber has aready stretched off the frame, but that's a problem with my Elite controllers as well. Doesn't happen on my Scufs. For some reason.

The Turtle Beach Series X controller I use is the best damn cheap controller I've ever bought. It's got grippy triggers, I like the shape of the triggers, EQ adjustments, etc. I bought the white one on clearance for 29.99

I took my PS5 back. I am going back to PC gaming. PS5 was too locked up with personal information, payment information, logins, and when I thought I bought a full game only some things were unlocked. I want to just buy a game disc and play the entire game with no login BS or having to be nickle and dimed to play a game fully. You can even just hand a controller over to a friend as player 2, no, you have to allow another profile with another login. Total BS the sheep have learned to be accepting of.
