From Chaos to Class: Reviving a Crazy Overgrown Yard with the Midas Touch!

So, after driving around for 2 hours looking for a yard to clean up for free, I'd lucked out. After knocking on 3 doors, one wasn't home (been there about 4 time so far) and the other 2 said no to a free cleanup. Who says no to a free yard cleanup 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, I was driving around and I saw this property. I've already done a massive transformation here about a year ago, so I decided to knock on their door and see what was going on. The homeowners were away at a funeral and their daughter told me that the mower they bought after the last clean-up was broken, so they couldn't mow. I said, right, ok then, I'd better do your yard again! She said “excellent”, so we began. I later found out that the mower wasn't broken, it just didn't have any fuel or oil. Note: When you buy a new mower, you need to purchase fuel and oil separately. Sometimes they have a small oil bottle, but always good to check 😉. After the rescue, I mentioned to the owner about a regular mowing service, and she was happy with the price (yes, I'm doing a few regular mows again). So this property will definitely be looked after moving forward. The quote included monthly mowing, weed spraying and rubbish removal. All up, I spent around 13 hours on this job, with 2 trips to the landfill.

FAQ's:

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.

Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.

Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.

Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.

Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!

Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️

Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.

Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.

Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.

Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have mu

George, I have concluded that you were placed on this earth to bring joy to people. You're an amazing man because you enjoy doing free labor for others..
  • @LazyDaisyDay88
I'm sure the neighbours will really and truly appreciate what you've done for this household. Great work!

Knowing that you did a huge clean up on this yard last year, then seeing the garbage in back is quite disheartening. Hopefully now that they are on a regular schedule, they will be better about it. Beautiful job, George! 💚💚
  • George, This was a monumental effort by you. I bet the neighbours are happy that you restored this yard . I hope the lady does pay you for your work in future.
  • Instantly recognised this house and wondered why you re released the clean-up video as I have already watched it, only to find out minutes later that you are back for round 2! It's sad to see after the initial work that the home owner let it get back to this state! Blackberry bushes are nothing compared to the first video thankfully, but geez, buying a mower and not putting oil and petrol in? Does not run on hopes and dreams! You do a great deed, George! Love your work mate!
  • That house demands a perfect lawn with the beautiful scenery in the background!!! Lovely solid home deserves regular attention, outside and inside!!! When we had a home I was out nearly every day working in the yard and then I'd go inside and working in my house. It requires constant attention to own a home of any size. You're a good man to help out again. I think you should have them come out and assist you!!! Even with a broken knee I was out in my yard--using a stool to sit on while I pulled weeds or cut flowers, using a cane as I trimmed shrubs. It can be done--my parents and grandparents set that example for me! Any ways, very nice job!!! Thanks for sharing!

George you are the best on the internet. You always do such a perfect job. I have worked in my yards all my life and detail is so important if you care. I was just shocked at this make over. WHO just throws bags of trash out in the back yard. I would be so embarrassed to have a lawn person clean up my trash. Bless you!! Love to watch your posts.
  • It’s too bad that they didn’t maintain their yard. Splendid job as always George. As for the two properties that passed up on a free lawn care, their loss.
  • @loisburke5736
Wasn't this an inherited property and the lady had a teenage special needs child or children? Some people are just at a total loss as of what/how to do yard work. Just like a fish out of water grappling, then feeling overwhelmed, anxious and out of breath. So glad you checked on this one again George, and have made a plan to help them keep it up. Thank you George, and may god bless you abundantly ❤🙏

I’m sure the neighbors are grateful, even if these folks aren’t. I shudder to think what the inside looks like…
  • @mauriehurst3504
It would be disheartening to see all your hard work gone for naught, yet you launched right in and did it all again. You are such a dynamo!!
  • @Michele_Williams
There is the same dog watching you out the window, but not barking as much and we see the kitty more ❤ as it watches you for a while clearing up the area you took the cordyline out of during the last round. I remember you having to cut out those paths and fix the fence by removing the chain link. I’m so happy to know they will have care of their yard going forward, and top marks for the weed spray talk you gave the one lady. You once more tamed this yard, and put it back into maintenance mode, which I hope will not be so hard an effort. Really cool new blade attachment and may it serve you well. I really like the different POV scenes, and seems your new camera works a charm! ✌ To that beast of a Honda you use, great video!!
  • I fail to understand people who defile their own property by throwing rubbish out into the yard! You are a very special breed of caretaker George. May the good Lord bless you abundantly.
  • @lyndabrown811
Nice camera. I can tell the difference from the 1st time you did this yard! Everything bright and clear. Editing and music great. The cat in the window enjoyed your efforts.😃🐈 Hope the client lets you take down that awful fence.😣 I have a feeling if those brambles are ever going to be gone, you'll need to do it.😉Hey, when are you going to take off those glasses and give us a smile? Asking for a friend.😎😘
  • @-Barbara.
Wow George, I loved this episode! First of all I have to say once again that you are truly a good man. You did the job a second time for free, without judging the family. Then you very patiently explained how to spray and how to use the lawnmower. And in the end you left with a maintenance contract and a big smile, you deserved all the respect! Second thing... the new camera is awesome! Watching it on TV I can count the blades of grass! And I love the double take editing! Thirdly, with the new equipment no wild blackberry can be safe anymore! Keep it up, you're doing a good job! 🤗💪🍻☀
  • Great work, and great choice of music. I don’t have to turn the volume up and down. It’s a pleasure watching you. Verla here😊
  • @Vistasabia
The Privet, Fuschia and Abelia have grown back fabulous and lush from the hard prune you gave them last year 😍. The dreaded blackberries came back…ugh 😵‍💫 so good that you wiped them down to the ground. You are receiving major karma points for beautifying this property again George 🙌🙌🙌💯💯💯💚💚💚
  • @joyceclark8476
Hi George, they are very fortunate to have you there a second time. I won’t judge them, not my job. I really hope they do what they said about you coming back once a month. I really do admire you and your detailed work. Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸USA ❤️Quick Cuts❤️
  • You did an amazing job. Thank you so much for your hard work. God bless you for your generosity and kindness.
