Cheap homesteading is checking see if the Homelite XL12 chainsaw that he got on Kijiji/Craigslist runs. He wanted to give it a try on the weekend. It will be a great addition to the Antique Homelite chainsaw collection.

Have the chain a bit to tight I think, but she runs and that always puts a smile on a person face to hear the old Homelite or Macs talking. I restored two Super EZ's over the summer and still working on three Mac's, unless the paint is half gone I leave the original on it. Since I was able to find rim/drum setup for the Super EZ I would bet you could convert the XL over to rim and drum.

Nice find on Kijiji. I have an old McCulloch from my dad I need to work on. Heavy saw but very strong and bomb proof. They don't make them like that anymore. Take Care Pete.

Silverstreak makes a nice 24in bar for the old homelites for 40 bucks thinking about buying one for my xl12

Either there is absolutely no oil getting to that chain or it is the wrong gauge for the bar....or both.
