Yeah dude, this game really stood out back in the day.. Flying with Buckbeak over the Hogwarts grounds was amazing.

Hermione fixing her hair with magic is like, the moment you really start to understand how much effort they put into this game. Because like, you've already gone through so many unique areas, and they're still putting a ton of effort into animations for these little one-off moments. Licensed games peaked here.

I don't know why I find Snape turning around coughing like he smokes 3 packs a day hilarious

I am VERY distracted by how good the lip syncing on this game is, it looks like they did straight motion capture, every word they say looks like it's being said by the characters..I love little stuff like that.
  • Prisoner of Azkaban: Has 0 beans Goblet of fire: Every 5 seconds A BEAN

Ron in the movies: basically useless Ron in the games: THE CHOSEN ONE

1:16 "When Ron says 'piss off' in the movie, I think that's when we all turned into proper adults. Incorrect, sir. I turned into an adult when Ron said "I'm not gonna take any CRAP from Malfoy this year" in the book.
  • Best part of the game was how Buckbeak would always kick the shit out of Ron whenever he tried to ride.

I’d beat this game by walking the entire game and never running because i wanted it to be as realistic as possible

I'm really impressed by the facial animation work in this game. It's so expressive and fun to watch.

This being played as the developer intended: On an actual real PS2

I grew up playing this game on the GameCube. I'm so happy that people are still discovering it. The Harry Potter games don't have a great history or reputation, but the third one is definitely a stand out. Love to see it.

This beginning train sequence gave me nightmares as a kid; it took me forever to get past it. I actually was scared of these things. Later in the game when Harry is alone in the test room with a dementor; that part took me forever to beat as well. I'd even restart the game just to enjoy going through the game again, then I'd end up back to that dementor trial with Harry. I was so proud to have beaten that part lol

Some notes for next time: you in fact can search the bookshelves for beans and other stuff, you can actually attack the vases (more than once if I remember correctly) and they drop beans. And you can search some of the trunks in the common rooms

I could not stop laughing when Snape just started coughing all over the place 🤣

"Why is Scabbers here? He's a ped--" I haven't read these books in a long time, got this one confused with Goblet.

The character models in this game look like it was made using the motion capture tech from Sims 2. I know there is a specific name for the hardware/software they used for this, and I know 100% it exists online still but for the life of me I can't find it again. There was like this helmet you would wear with essentially a Gopro on the front of it pointed back at the user that was extremely good at capturing eye movement specifically and this game looks like it used that considering how specifically bug eyed everyone is. Not like it matters nowadays but especially for this generation of videogames it's extremely fascinating looking back on it when you can trace back how developers make something.

this one was not only my favorite harry potter game, but it's honestly one of my favorite video games in general. obviously, the nostalgia plays a part in that, but it's also just so dang fun--clever puzzles and secrets, solid environmental storytelling, some good laughs. I also felt like this one was uniquely aware of the books and injected a lot of subtle details from it, while the other games just drew from the movies.

Nostalgia critic outside the train window is even more terrifying than the dementors
