The best praise I ever heard fro X4 was from a friend who thought it was a MMO after playing it for six months

The song that is playing in the background of the video is a re-imagining of the Kingdom End theme from X3.

Over 1,400 hours in this game and I am nowhere near done!
I'll be playing this in 5-6 years when X5 releases (hopefully).

I've just bought X4 and I'm looking forward to finishing the tutorials and getting into the game. I'm really impressed by how sleek everything looks, and the scope of the game is spectacular.
  • Love Kingdom End's ambiance, always have, followed by Seizewell, relaxing and satisfying, I had my HQ in Kingdom end last time I played X series, it was X2 a while back

The game has been sitting on my steam account since its early days untouched. I gave it 30 minutes and the control mappings were so odd I put it down. I keep saying I need to get in so I'm looking forward to your how to video

Yes, please, teach me how to X4. I've had this game in my lib since it launched as it was a big deal in the german speaking cons I went to. Got in and was instantly turned off. I like playing sim games but damn X4 has so much stuff that it's hard to get into without someone to help you get your bearings.

This Music is from X3:Reunion. Can´t count how many hours i was sitting in their home sector, listening to this track and activate sinza (turbo mode, don´t know the english name for it ^^) while my traders earn tons of money.

Compared to the older X games, making money in X4 might be a bit easy, but i play it since releaseday and i liked it from the go...even with these bugs and so on. Today, with version 6.0, they really put very hard work into it and it is even better than before. Its worth every minute you play it, but that is just my opinion 🙂

In terms of what is next, my wish list is a bit extensive, but I hope to see them,

    1) A storyline primarily focused on the player establishing a Corporation, and the reactions of various nations depending on where you establish your HQ, and what you chose for your Corporation to specialize in.

And example would be if you decide to focus on Terraforming (and this would be an excellent time to expand the Terraforming options to include Split and Boron space) then the Argon/Antigone would try to cozy up to you to make more of their planets habitable, the Teladi would seek to become your exclusive suppliers, Split would react with aggression to steal resources from you, the Terrans would be indifferent, and the Boron would send scientists and support personnel to study under you.

Choose to specialize in ship construction, Factions would jocky to have you establish your primary shipyards in their space, but woe to your company if you decide to establish a Shipyard in an opposing faction.

    So on and so on.

    2) More fluid AI diplomacy, not quite to the point of declaring outright war on each other, but more border skirmishes, trade wars, and temporary hostilities.

Example, the Teladi would try to avoid declaring all out war on the Argon, but they sure would hire pirates and privateers to decrease the Argon's supply/market share of say Graphene, so Teladi sellers make more profitssssss. In the reverse, the Argon would restrict Teladi shipments if they found out they where selling to the Holy Order of Ponifex, and seek to blockade their shipments, to which the Teladi would respond with escorted Blockade runners.

Just that slight extra resource drain, and adding a bit more life and flexibility to the universe.

    3) An expansion to the base factions to include a few extra ship classes, full fledged Battleships are one class the factions need (Or an equivalent, Split would likely make fast battle cruisers with lots of weapons but mediocre defenses, the Boron would make a fully fledged supercarrier, Argon would likely make a command style Battleship focused around turrets and Heavy Shields, the Holy Order would make a ship centered around a high range, high alpha damage missile battery, while the Godrealm would focus on a huge mass driver not too dissimilar to to Terran mega laser, the Teladi would embrace their inner capitalist and either make a true super freighter, or more likely, a Mobile trade station based on a super carrier esq design) Another idea would be a "Mining Carrier" basically an XL carrier with say 4 small ship docks with storage for 4 more ships, and 2 M class docks, but a butt load of solid/liquid storage, and it would depend on small and medium class ships to mine for it.

    4) an expansion to minor factions and guilds, IE Teladi/Antigone trade guilds, an actual Hatickva expansion, an Ministry of Finance storyline (hell just a Teladi storyline period would be nice).

    5) A Kha'ak expansion, they don't need a rework, but with a bigger focus on the Kha'ak as an antagonist in Kingdom's End, a storyline that involves trying to figure them out would be welcome, doesn't have to be a full communications establishment, but just SOMETHING about why the Kha'ak are the way they are.

I have more, but this is already a long post, but the general ideas are there. They have already made clear they aren't adding more sectors, so I feel a focus on the smaller powers, as well as introducing more smaller powers that are more flexible in how they act in the game, for or against the player and larger powers, would add more life to the game.

The only thing for me missing in this fantastic game is still the possibility to talk more to NPCs. It feels so amazing having a wingman, but a little bit of chatting with them would be nice. It feels so cold. But i know this game is more for Excel fans and strategy fans. Its not an RPG and will never be. But i agree with you. It's a great game.
