  • I think the biggest talking point about Martinelli was that he was dribbling with his head up! Wonder if he's been working on his dribbling talents 👀

i have to say, Nwanieri looks so good its crazy. Also Skelly and Salah look good. Jesus was very good as well, he seems confident in his body just like when he first came to us.

The future looks bright. Salah-Ouddine, Nwaneri, Heaven, Nichols and Lewis-Skelly all look either very good or outstanding.

I think Yoro is gonna struggle for utd . They are treating him as the savior . Thats way to much pressure for a kid

Nelson was an 8 for me, he was everywhere, making greats runs (just unlucky at the end of a couple), great movement on and off the ball, intelligent and accurate passing. Jesus looks back to top form. I think one of the things Arteta has said he could improve is his finishing, even though he's a likely 20 goal a season player, if he got all of the close chances, all those wide or over the bar on target, cut out all the extra touches, he could be a 30+ a year player. Jorginho played really well, completely forgot it was a friendly with those heavy/careless tackles! Trossard was Trossard, always good, if he'd got that shot in that was saved by the keeper that would be even more typical Trossard. Nwaneri was all over them. I can't see how MA can leave him out of decent first team minutes next season. The young defenders were so composed on the ball that I was worrying that they might get overconfident and have the ball nicked off them, they didn't, well played lads. Some of the play was naff though. Several times the ball went to a defender, but instead of passing it to the free player ahead of them in plenty of space on their side of the pitch, the ball went sideways, but over the other side the forward players were all marked, so the ball had to come back. Is this just to rack up the number of touches the players get, to help their stats, because it's pointless doing it when there's clear passes to players in space ahead of them?

Gabby Jesus is controlled chaos in the best way, when he's on song. We need a huge remontada from both Jesus and Martinelli next season!

I think the problems with Martinelli last season were the players around him. The left side was a bit wonky and the service that Martinelli received was on the end of a longish pass which generally meant Gabbi had to sprint to. It is impossible to do the thinking and sprint, so the first thing you have to do is take a breath and then decide. Hence, he wasted a bit of ball. Skelly has a decent through ball in him. So has Nwaneri. Playing either or both will suit him.

Very harsh by you Charles to only give Heaven a 6. The way he responded after that goal, he was brilliant. If it wasnt for that mistake for manutd goal I would have give him MOTM

Went to a Manc mate's place this morning to watch it and got the night bus home. So glad I did, as it was very, very encouraging to say the least, as a training exercise. With us looking like we are going to hit the season at a sprint and which we have to. With lol, some other managers still complaining when we do win against them. So thanks to them for continuing to make us smile. The smaller pitch made it a bit like a 5-a-side game with loads of tight quick passing and was exactly what we needed to be tested on and get those feet and minds upto speed. The stadium looked unreal but the Kronks (like German stadiums) seriously need to get a UK gardener in to sort out the most important part of a stadium, the actual playing surface. How the youngsters impressed though on a less than perfect pitch, with what we saw of them looking like they can slot into the game, when given the opportunity and call to do so. So all in all, getting up late on a rare summer's day this year, is really worth it and long live the N29.

I stayed up to watch it this morning, and I've got to go to work at midday. I don't care. 😂

I really think Martinelli gets way too much crap for last season. No, it wasn't as productive as the season prior but when you consider all the circumstances: LB problems, Havertz playing in the left 8 role for the most part at the beginning of the season. injury, his total isolation while holding the width, either missing or not starting a number of matches, playing backup to Saka for a few weeks (even starting on the right in the final match and playing well)...etc. So in this "bad" season, Martinelli scored 6 goals and had 4 assists in the prem and got 2 goals in the UCL (not to mention a couple of those goals were vitally important). No one would say Jeremy Doku had a bad season yet Nelli had twice the goals Doku did and his G/A was only one less. Nico Williams? ...he scored 5 goals in La Liga, one less than Nelli. His performances weren't up to his usual high standards but it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone keeps making it out to be.

With a lot of people beginning to worry slightly about incomings this transfer window by the sounds of it. In my mind, still possibly the most important piece of work is yet to be done and seems to have gone a bit quiet. That is tying down Arteta to a new contract. Has there been any update on this at all yet? P.S. great to see the young gunners taking their chance to shine in pre-season! Keep up the good work Charles!
  • @blackmagic6
Wow, 4m narrower and 5m shorter ...... WTF? That's unbelievable. It shouldn't be allowed. They should knock it down and start again.
  • @V4n1lla_Rice
Of course we got the decision, its our home from home 😅
  • @hippybill1
I think if we fix the left hand side we will get da best out of martinelli
  • @JT-162
Lots of positives in the game…Ethan looks like he belonged…Jesus is back…GM looks hungry…Kai ramping up and looks miles ahead of where he was when joined last year…can’t wait until all the boys are back…
  • @user94133
Ethan N. look comfortable playing in the first team and needs time to grow.
