Israeli cyber-surveillance company NSO Group’s Pegasus malware has reportedly been used in at least 45 countries worldwide to infect the phones of activists, journalists, and human rights defenders. This terrifying software can infiltrate your smartphone, collect your data and even listen to you... all without your knowledge.

A huge leak in July 2021, revealed 50,000 phone numbers that had been targeted; including president of France Emmanual Macron, and friends of the family of Saudi journalist Jamal Kashoggi in the lead up to his murder in 2018.

Eyal Weizman and Shourideh Molavi from Forensic Architecture used open-source investigation to gather reports of digital Pegasus infections to reveal how they relate to acts of violence in the real world.

This is the front line we're not hearing enough of. Thank you to Vice and these two journalists!
  • Blacklist it, destroy it, and ban it from existence on the entire planet. It is a violation of privacy and could be considered wiretapping which is a crime, which needs to be changed to a Federal Crime. Any person who does such whether a citizen, or government official, or federal agents, or law enforcement should be considered guilty. Absolutely unacceptable. Change it now.

The Brazilian government tried to purchase a license of this… this is fucked up
  • Pegasus says they want to prevent crime but it seems to me that this program is criminal in and of itself.
  • Someone in Russia will find a way to copy this Pegasus and sell it to the public on the dark web.

As they say; You'll appreciate the freedom once you lost it. It's terrifying to see that we (as the public) are losing our freedom both in real life and on the internet. Keep fighting for freedom ✊

    Oh they doing it
  • Dude, the NSO company logo looks like some movie villain type deal, but the company headquarters being next to a hummus place kind of takes away from that 😂
  • Remember back in the day when someone was peeking in on your private life, they were called creeps. Still are.
