  • @I_Do_Cars
Thats a terrible engine to have that combustion palace malice.
  • When I heard you start that engine last time, it hurt my soul. Then you did it again...and somewhere a German engineer got his wings.
  • This time it's worth doing the right thing. Best of luck Jared. The channel is working out well. I have not missed a single video. Thanks for all the efforts.
  • I'm mostly impressed Jared knew Charlie Brown's teacher's phone number. Looking forward to seeing this thing run !
  • Jared, hats off to your honesty at leaving your comfort zone to learn a totally different level of cars from the jdm world.Your channel gets better and better!
  • I’ve never seen a Porsche motor taken apart. What an engineering marvel. Such a complex design. I am impressed. I also want to say that the reason I watch your videos is for you. Your personality and the humor you inject into the video is awesome! Thank you.
  • The I do cars reference was nice to hear. He is highly underrated and does an excellent job showing the inner parts of some unique motors
  • Jared. I have a C4S that failed in exactly the same fashion. It was frustrating as the engine was already a reman fitted by Porsche. Some pretty experienced techs were unable to explain what it was or how it got there. However I seized scavenge pump, stretched chain, lost timing and bent 12 valves. $8000 seems on the low side in my experience.
  • I cant believe that caused the engine to fail either, I imagine the thought of some small bit like that floating around should concern a few 911 owners who already thought they fixed their car
  • @aDaWaN
I would be tempted to check the valve seats and just replace the bent valves.... Would fit with the fix and flip ethos! Either way, rebuild the engine, retains the value of the car! Thanks for the video!

It's so good to see when YouTubers show that sometimes engine rebuilds should be left to the professionals. inspecting the engine first is key. And basically if it doesn't start be prepared to buy another engine.
  • @mvining7
Jonathan hit the nail on the head. I was an engineer for kia (manufacturing not design) and they were constantly looking for cost reduction to the tunes of hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. It was actually a part of our annual performance review there. I won't say engineers are blameless by any means, but typically most problems can be traced by following the dollars 🤣🤣 Looking forward to see where this goes!
  • I thought they did the timing chain in the front and rear so they could use the same head casting for both heads. I had an ‘02 Boxster and lived in fear if the ims bearing the whole time I owned it. I was thinking about getting a Cayman this time but opted for a C7 Corvette instead. I figured at least I’m familiar with a push rod v8.
  • "Variable compression AND variable timing options....." 😄 🤣 😂 😆 😄
  • I can vouch for the Miata owners out there... we're not gonna be offended if you say our cars aren't fast. Unless they've been engine swapped or have a massive turbo or something, they aren't. Horsepower isn't what makes them fun!
  • Look at Jared sneaking in a Factor ad mid engine build!
  • @roxieloot
Loving this channel. Really hope you rebuild this engine properly. Keep up the good work, even though it must be long hours, hard work and expensive. It will be worth it in the future. Respect from 🇬🇧.
  • I recently discovered the stuff about the IMS bearing by chance researching Boxsters after finding some at good prices. Theres a whole cottage industry providing fixes for those things lol. Never been a big fan of Porsche but love seeing the rebuild of the engine for sure! Also, AWD is fun, people do use LS engines for some AWD cars in drag racing i think lol
  • It doesn't matter how much engineering you put into an engine. Something is designed to fail if that said engine isn't taken care of properly. Amazing job by you Two explaining everything. I knew nothing about this type of engine. Now I'm terrified to buy a Porsche. LOL
  • Jared, great video. This dude knows what he's talking about. I rebuilt one on my channel last year and yes, these engines are great if you take care of them. P.S. AOS = Air/Oil Separator. Don't forget, oil cooler, new bolts, injectors and rods. I built mine using the Jake Raby M9X assembly guide. Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!
