Use this cleansing balm to melt away makeup! It's easy to make, and cost effective compared to popular commercial formulas, such as Clinique's Take the Day Off Balm Cleansing Balm.

Unfamiliar with solid cleansing balms? They act as a makeup remover - apply to dry skin and massage in thoroughly. Then, follow with a facial soap.

The lightweight oils loosen makeup, while the combination of emulsifiers ensure the balm washes away without greasy residue. We lightly scented this balm with Natural Juicy Pear Fragrance Oil, but it can be left unscented if you prefer. We also added a touch of preservative. Because this recipe does not contain any water, this is optional.

Use your fingertips to massage the balm into dry skin. Give extra attention to areas with hard to remove makeup, such as eyes and lips. Rinse away with warm water and follow with a facial soap.

Note: if you live in a hot climate, you may want to increase the amount of emulsifying wax to ensure it remains a solid texture. It is still safe and effective to use if the balm softens.
