Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by things that glow in the dark. I had a few glow toys that I really liked, but I either lost them or gave them away. I could've just bought some new ones, but I thought it would be a lot more fun to make my own from scratch.
Note: In my equation for ZnS + O2, please ignore my explanation below it. It doesn't make sense.

"My only issue was that the baby wasn't as creepy as I thought it would be." Quote of the year.
-
"My mom threw away my glowing dinosaur, so I became a chemist and made my own" is a better villain origin story than 90% of the ones out there
-
Nile: "Hey mom, you seen my glow in the dark dinosaur?" His mom: "Think we gave those away honey." Nile: "And so I started crafting."
-
It would be very interesting to see Nile do the Strontium Aluminate. Just as a side by side, glowing baby next to an equally creepy, brighter glowing, baby.
-
I like how he didn't even change his tone when talking about how sad he was when his mom threw his toys out.
-
"and sadly, it wasn't glowing" :O "But it's what I expected" :D

NileRed: “I had to be very careful. This is because the toxicity of hydrogen sulfide gas… is comparable to cyanide.” NileRed, 4 or 5 videos later: “Does cyanide really smell like almonds?” [thumbnail of his nose very close to what is presumably a container full of cyanide] // Timestamp: 18:28

Nigel's mother: "I'm so proud of my son who's a chemist educating millions of people on the wonders of chemistry" Meanwhile Nigel: GLoWinG BAbiEs!

This is the best channel on YouTube. I love how this entire video is just “my mom threw out my glow dinosaur so I did chemistry and made my own”
-
3 year old Nile: “wow look at all that stored light energy”
-
The fact that he showed his failures while trying to make something glow just shows how humble he is.
-
I watched this entire video from start to finish just because I know how much time you put in. The amount of times I hear you say “I let it sit overnight” just tells you how much time one step in the process takes. This stuff is fascinating and I love your work.

"But it didn't fix the major problem: that this method sucked." Nile has a penchant for quoting the obvious in the most funny ways.

if i had a dollar for every time nilered said "to do this" i would be a millionaire

These are the kinds of videos that make me shiver every time I ask myself, "What does the industrialized process look like?" I could not fathom making this shit in a factory setting.
