For some reason I’m obsessed with the little animation of 2D. Something about the care and worry in his eyes as he pleads, “talk to me” gets to me.

Here's a bit of trivia if anyone is interested. Doncamatic was the name of the Rhythm Machine released by Keio Gijyutsu Kenkyujo (later renamed Korg) founded by Tsutomu Katou. Katou was a submariner in WWII. Daley cruising in a submarine and coming across WWII wreckage doesn't seem a coincidence to me. In fact, Katou was the asked by Gorillaz to record the vocal sample of "Doncamatic" which is heard in this song. Just a bit of nerding-out. I don't claim to have the full story worked out, just wanted to point out some connections. ✌️

For those who don't know, this happens between melancholy hill and rhinestone eyes. Daley is heading to plastic beach on his own. 2D is still locked down and tries to communicate with him.

I remember when this first came out and there were people who mocked the song and said it was terrible and a lot of that had to do with a guy who had such high vocals and now the comments are about how cool it is the guy has such high vocals. Times have changed and I'm here for it.

i ADORE how at 2:15 daley's vocals become more high and prolonged, which, if you were just listening to the song, you'd probably think it was just to make the chorus sound better and less repetitive. BUT when you watch the music video and note how his character is becoming increasingly stressed, it really adds more weight. p.s. daley's voice is literally angelic. it's like the audio equivalent of a honeycomb milkshake.

Who’s here after we saw his remains in “The Lost Chord”

9 years later and I've come to the realization that Gorillaz' songs are simply timeless

People who probably aren’t that much into Gorillaz will think he’s dead for real with these comments

the emotion in 2d’s voice when he says “talk to me talk to me talk to me” he sound so desperate :(
  • @urlocal_liz
That "Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me" part is so addictive, idk why. The animation is fluid, the art is nice, the vocals sound great. Honestly wish 2-D/Damon had more lines rather than just those three words a few times.

Down lowly Make up for the time you've wasted Come slowly And claim back the boy you left behind Close the white book Unplug the brain from the game 'Cause it's time to wipe out To the stars Get on the fame The song is not the same when we're All played out, played out, all played out They said the memories All fade out, fade out, all fade out Tell me did you feel that? Don't slow down Even if it's only to escape Just down, low down Before somebody steals your place man Close the white book Unplug the brain from the game 'Cause it's time to wipe out To the stars Get on the fame And the conversation's over We're all played out, played out, all played out (talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me) You see the memories All fade out, fade out, all fade out (talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me) Tell me did you feel that? Doncamatic Down lowly Make up for the time you wasted Come slowly Claim back the boy you left behind and Close the white book Unplug the brain from the game It's time to wipe out to the bar get on the fame The song is not the same when we're All played out, played out, all played out (Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me) You see the memories All fade out, fade out, all fade out (Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me) The song is not the same when we're All played out, played out, all auto tuned (Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me) The song is not the same when we're All played out, played out, played out, played out (Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me) Tell me did you feel that?
