Pre Thanksgiving Motorcycle Adventure camping trip with friends!

and our good friend Craig, Trans American Trail conquerer,
decided to meetup for a pre thanksgiving adventure. We met up in South Carolina and rode a few miles on the SCAR (South Carolina Adventure Route). We rode some beautiful roads, both paved and unimproved. Camped in the rain and freezing temps and still had a great time. We always have a blast when we get our schedules to line up!

We noticed that the Claw of the Dragon trail was close by where we camped recently in Hungry Mother State Park in VA. A beautiful area with nice campgrounds and nice hikes too! Thanks for sharing!

Looked pretty cool, not too gnarly. I haven't ridden dirt since the early 70's, haven't had a bike for it since the first one blew up (literally, the alternator rotor fragged, tore out a chunk of cylinder fins and most of the left case cover, fortunately that was after I bought my Yamaha 500, which I still have). Oh, and you mentioned riding in the dark the day we met up; I had the good fortune (ha) of getting to Charlottesville at sunset on the way home, first time I've ridden VA20 in the dark, luckily only saw one deer. Got home at 10pm.

Training for an Alaska adventure. Still thawing out from the ride home. Will have to tell you about being run off the road an hour from home. Thank god I was on an adventure bike.

I love rain rides, if it is t in metro traffic. 😆 Always good to see you and the fellas getting out for a ride. I bought a couple sleep systems the other day that I want to test out on my 500 mike after work sprints to see Ms Wolf. The Canvas Cutter Summit which is a bivvy style sleep system, and I ordered a Wingman of the Road Goose. Looking at them, I might have some modifications to the Summit which could make it a great nap bag. I was telling Mason that the last ride I didn’t remember the last third of the ride and I woke up a few times riding the bike. My plan is to get past the Bay Area, or not, throw them up and take a two or three hour nap, then finish the run. We’ll see how it goes. It’s not really bike weather in Humboldt but it’s 80 and sunny in Moro Bay.

It should only rain at night between 2 AM and 5 AM. :P

That logging road at th ed beginning looks like Wildlife Rd in Liberty Hill, SC. If so had a crash on a steep section of it due to those ruts and me running 25 mph on my KLR650 with little experience. The dam is at Fishing Creek lake.

Never heard how your return home ride went? It was pretty cold after thanksgiving.
