House Speaker Mike Johnson is bundling the bill that could lead to a ban on TikTok into his four-part foreign aid plan. The legislation would require TikTok's Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell the popular social media network or face a ban in the U.S. CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more.

The last time they tried this there was a number of other bills attached to the ban that were absolutely crooked and the people who thought of them deserve to be in prison. I can't imagine this is any different. One of the bills would've made it illegal to do business with any company that good ol' uncle same took issue with. So,,, let's take my VPN for example. The VPN is based in Russia, with the previous ban bill if it had passed. I could've been charged with a crime because I give money to a Russian company, and I could've gotten life for it. All because Russia is fighitng with Ukraine at the moment and uncle sam don't like'm. I HATE TikTok, but I honestly don't think this attempt to ban it is any different than the previous.

Just smoke and mirrors to keep us distracted.

I don't like tiktok, never even been on the app, and I think it's garbage. However, banning them seems authoritarian. Parents use tiktok as a professional babysitter so that they don't have to deal with their kids and then act all surprised when the kid's behavior changes and they get addicted to it. Tiktok didn't get your kid addicted— YOU allowed it to happen. Take some responsibility.
  • Americans go overseas to fight for freedom when we should be fighting for it here at home.

I've never used TikTok but if the US Govt wants it banned then it probably shouldn't be. I'm not keen on bought and paid for politicians telling me what platform I can and can't use for information.
