A tutorial by Jeff's Little Engine Service on How To Repair 2 different Honda EU2000i GENERATOR that won't start or run after STORAGE. Or runs with the CHOKE ON only. HOW TO FIX it the EASY WAY. Repair it with the CARBURETOR still on the machine! Fails to start after sitting only a few months. This GENERATOR was in very good condition so an obstructed FUEL SYSTEM is most likely to blame (Ethanol) fuel problem. Remove float bowl , Clean the carburetor and fix the problem. An Experienced mechanic zeros in on the problem and fixes it easily. Dirty and or plugged CARBURETOR main jet plugged. Clean Float bowl. Change spark plug and oil. DOES Vinegar work to clean the rusty carb?
ETHANOL IS BAD!

  • A quiet Generater.Systems , love the dual fuel capabilities, camper is 50 amp but the adapter helps and found it still handles the load. Haven't taken a camping trip yet, that's in a couple of weeks. Will see how well it does over a long weekend.

We have used the youtube.com/post/UgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQL… for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
  • Thanks for this excellent tutorial. In my case the main jet had become blocked and even the throttle butterfly valve had become stuck with gunk on top of all the rubbish in the float bowl and the fuel tank needed a big clean out too!! Had to strip the whole carby clean, etc. Put back together and purring like a cat!! Mike, Australia.
  • Thanks so much , I cleaned that fuel bell like you said and now my generator starts in 1 pull!!

(Am I the only person who is very tired of seeing OLD SPICE commercials?) As to the video: Excellent! Very easy to follow. Thank you!
  • Thanks for the instruction. Worked great. Started on the 4th pull after cleaning.

Thanks for the instructable. I need to do this to two generators that I have. This is a great help for a non-mechanic like me.

Thank you sir. I don't know what the labor rate is at the Honda lawnmower shop, but you saved me alot of money.
  • Great video, and a big thanks for the close in camera shots. Most people won't go to the trouble of doing those close in shots, but it makes all the difference when you do. Good job
  • @fsevilla1
thanks you just save me a lot of time and helped ms get my gen back running in this crazy houston weather
  • This worked perfectly. I did exactly this. Gas had been in generator more than a year. Did have the residual fuel dried up in fuel cup and carb. Took the carb cleaner and toothbrush. Worked great. Put all back together and added fresh gasoline. Took around 15 pulls then started up. Ran generator around 1 hour. Thank you for showing this. Thank you Jeff.
  • On any generator, I recommend draining all the fuel and spraying wD-40 in the carb and remove the fuel line and spray WD into the carb. I try and run or drain any fuel left in the bowl. The WD-40 prevents the float from sticking and doesnt go sticky with age. I used to summarize all my snowmobiles that way every year and All I had to do was add fresh fuel and they started and ran perfect every season.

Thank you for this video. I learned much.
  • Great video . Fixed both of mine in total of 20-30 min . Thanks again !!!
  • I just got one at a pawn shop in hermit ca 350. Now I know how to service it
  • Don't worry about tightening those two 8mm nuts. Metal sleeves in the bolt holes protect the plastic from crushing. Within reason, of course.
  • @mr1pearl
Vinegar that's a new one for me thanks for the tip.

When you took the float bowl off there was a hose attached. That's actually the drain for the tank. It drains out the bottom of the unit. Easily seen at 6:58

Hard to start my EU2000 after sitting a while - thought I had ignition problems, but cleaned the carb anyway and added fresh fuel - only use Premium w/o ethanol. Anyway, no help it seemed. but figured there might be oldre fuel in the line so reassembled and drained bowl 5 times. Looks like that worked! Note: pulled handle slowly 4-5 times then more quickly to0 try and start, After five times of draining bowl, priming bowl (3-4 slow strokes before a start attempt) it worked on time number 5. This video helped me get through all that.THANK YOU!

That looked like a shortcut carb clean as neither the float valve or main and pilot jets were removed for cleaning. You were lucky. For the first start after lack of use for awhile, I pressurise the fuel tank with a small hand air pump. It really improves starting.
