She saw no fire and smelled no smoke. Perhaps it's just a false alarm? We can all learn from this. Get out. Figure it out later.
  • Since the news didn’t say what happened,I used google. According to an article workers in the basement cut a gas line they thought was off. After the third cut they realized it wasn’t and alerted people and pulled fire alarm.

This clip should be used as a public service announcement about the importance of taking all emergency alarms seriously regardless of how much your gut is telling you, "it's just a drill or a false alarm "

I’m so glad she and her baby are doing ok.

This is a textbook PSA on fire alarms and building evacuation. In the future, lives will be saved by the example presented by this young mother. Smelling no smoke, feeling no heat, seeing no fire, she still followed protocol and evacuated.

I retired from the fire service after 35 years and I can’t tell you how many times we responded to fire alarms in high-rise buildings and people ignored the blaring alarms! Good for her in paying attention and giving a damn about her and her son’s life.
  • Elevator shaft acting like a reinforced chimney, sending everything UP! Saw similar videos from Beirut, during that explosion.
  • @DaKrawnik
So that's why they say don't use the elevator during a fire alarm. It could explode!
  • And THIS is exactly why they tell you to NOT use an elevator when a fire alarm is triggered/pulled!

Props to Simmons for evacuating even without any evidence of danger.

The crew that was working in the sub-basement at the time that accidentally cut the gas line must have pulled the alarm. I'm sure they saved lives doing so. But that beautiful historic building is a goner I'm afraid!
  • I WILL NEVERRRRRRR THINK AN EMERGENCY ALARM THAT STARTS BLARING IS A FALSE ALARM! EVER!
  • I don’t blame her for not returning. How very scary!! People are very lucky to be alive.

I’m so glad her and her baby are ok!

Lesson from Fire Marshal Bill here… when you evacuate a structure due to fire alarm take the fire extinguisher you walked past with you. The fire could be in your path unexpectedly. Remember folks I’ve been set on fire 99 times 🤣😂😆 Who remembers Fire Marshal Bill??
  • Word to the wise when the fire alarm goes off even if you don’t think it’s real “GET OUT”.
