This song is very moving. I spent 28 years in the Army. I am disabled, partly. I am fighting my physical ailments and trying to stay fit but it is hard to do. I keep trying to keep the old man out but it is a fight. I suppose this is what this song is about. It motivated me. Thanks for writing it. Can't quit, won't quit now.

Very sad! This song shows his strength, his fight, and love for LIFE! I remember him singing the Red, White, And Blue after 911, such a truly inspirational song. Thank you for singing in Iran for the troops there. My son in law was in the Army, stationed there. You brought the true America to a very troubled land, and it meant so much to those serving in the military to have you there, it gave them strength, happiness, and a reason to go on. True American, gifted man, and very sorrowful to my family that he has passed.

Toby...this really hits home. I'm 63, and am fighting off the "old man" from entering my mindset. Thank you for all of your great music and your love for our country. We need more folks like you right now.

I am so sad about Toby Keith's passing every time I hear him sing a song for singing on TV it really makes me cry he was the greatest thing I've ever heard and I am 69 years old like I've always said to him he was up there with Willie Merle Johnny Cash and a lot of others who would never be forgotten in my deepest sympathies and heart and prayers goes to his family you will always be in my heart and here recently I text on his website and told him that I bought a picture of Jesus knocking on the door and it is hanging in my living room wall and every time I see it I think of him constantly he's up there with our father and I know he's singing some songs he's looking over his family best friend his friends his friends he was a fantastic wonderful guy I wish I could have met him in person I do have an autographed picture of him I'm going to miss him so and I know a lot of others will too so God bless your family I will keep sending you messages and one day my friend I will see you and the kingdom that's just where you are a big man beer for My horses I will never forget that and that song don't let the old man in I play it over and over and over God bless you you will always be in my heart and thoughts and I will keep paying you music to the day God takes me to heaven and I wish and I said it to my kids if I could take that day away and let God take me before you I would have done that cuz you love your family and you still have a whole life ahead of you and one day we'll all see you mom my sweet friend
  • How old would you be if you didn't know the day you were born. Very powerful words. Toby Keith , you touched many hearts with this song. ♥
  • Toby Keith is awesome! I am a retired Senior Chief with 26 years in the US NAVY. I was deployed onboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) back in 2012 and Toby flew onboard in the middle of the Arabian gulf and we had a concert on the hanger bay ! It was awesome… this guy is a true American. I was saddened to hear about his cancer …. I pray God will take care of him and watch over him.. I hope one day I see you in concert again!

Keep fighting Mr Keith. Our prayers are with you.
  • This song is the thing that got me off the sofa and riding my bike 5 days a week. I'm 56 and fighting to not let the old man in! I wake up to this song as it was chosen as my alarm! Thanks Toby! God Bless
  • In just over three weeks I shall turn 87. I'm a bit slower than I used to be, but I still get to the gym & to swim a couple of times a week. I don't mind be old and, as long as I can move around & "have all my marbles", I rather enjoy it. Great song, great movie "The Mule", I've seen it twice!

Another Beautiful ❤moving song from this Beautiful man. Have loved his music 🎶 for all his career. Prayers for God’s healing and Prayers for your Beautiful Family too. Toby you are Loved ❤
  • My husband JUST retired after 43 years of dedicated service as an electrical engineer for a large power company. One of the first things he did was break his hip in a lawn mowing accident. This song is my heartfelt message to him. I’m not getting cheated out of a fun retirement. It’s time for us to get to enjoy life and good storms without the pressure of him working 14 hour days to get other people’s power back on (while ours was still off and I was home alone with small children!)

You've written some great songs, but this to me is your best. I'm 69 year old vet, and I see his shadow creepin' around, but he ain't gettin' in. Thanks
  • @sherry8894
