  • I just got a 2010 Sentra’s for $300 because the owner thought he blew the engine. Was cranking and not starting, lol I fixed it with a $12 pull a part air intake tube. The original intake tube had a big hole in it which messed up the air/fuel ratio and stopping the engine from starting lmao 🤣

Spray Starter Fluid (ether) down the intake duct. If the engine runs on that, the spark system is working (crank sensor OK) so your problem is in the fuel system. Next step would be to verify fuel pressure at the supply to the injector rail (screw gage onto test port), then verify fuel injectors are pulsing. If a bad crank sensor, I think the engine controller doesn't even know the engine is turning over so won't spark or pulse injectors, and won't throw a code. If your fuel pump fails on the road, try kicking the fuel tank as you key on and off and it might start turning again to immediately drive home or to a shop. I took a bad one out once, gave it a little rap on the bench, and it then turned with 12 VDC applied (worn bearings can seize like that). Most cars with a MAP sensor, instead of MAF, will run fine with a vacuum leak but will idle too fast if the leak overwhelms the IAC valve (it is fully closed).

I appreciate how simple you make things for anybody, thank you!! ATM my car is having a hard start but I just watched it other video and is about to test it out! Thank you

Thank you, this is very helpful. I would like to add my two cents here. My Mazda 3 was cranking but not starting, and the reason was a faulty mass air flow sensor. No code was recorded. But the culprit can be pinpointed by disconnecting the sensor and the car can actually fire using it's built-in dummy mode. Worth checking if the car hesitated to start, dropped in mpg, or had thrown a P0101 code recently

Aloha from the papaya tree behind you and the typical flower only available in Oahu
  • I just bought a used 2008 nissan xterra, 2 wheel drive. Ive only had it a week, and immediatelly it sometimes difficult starting it makes sounds trying to start but takes 5 - 10 seconds sometimes to finally fully turn on and engine run. But usually if its been running and only recentlly turned off , if i start it soon after it seems to usually start right up. I may be misremembering, but it seems to have more difficulty starting fully if its been turned off for a few hours or overnight. Guy who sold it to me said nothing about it, but i dont trust him at this point, as no way it literally just started happening the day i bought it from him. I had battery tested and its good, only a year and a half old. And i noticed a slight fuel smell today inside the xterra while driving it. Unfortunately i was told by oreillys auto parts when i asked about getting a new fuel filter that this model xterra doesnt have just a simple fuel filter that is easy to access and remove and replace alone, as its instead supposely inside the friggin fuel tank and has to remove the friggin fuel tank and replace whole fuel assembly and buy and whole new fuel assembly to replace fuel filter. Which is nearly $400 for just the part! What batshoot craxy dumb design instead of jjust having fuel filter outside fuel tank easy to access and replace like some vehicles.. And this xterra has a built in alarm system connected to a chip in the key, apparently. When locking and leaving vehicle apparently after getting a certain distance from vehicle thealarm automatically arms. Suddenly today when i drove to auto store and turned engine off and removed key, immediatley as i opened door to exit the vehicle the alarm suddenly went on making alarm noises for a minute. Had no idea how to turn it off or why it suddenly started alarming as i was still in vehicle with the key in my hand. It at least stopped alarming sound after a minute. Just concerned as it shouldnt do that and have no idea why it did or if its going to again and how to stop it.

if hard starting first thing in the am or after it’s been sitting awhile, but it eventually starts; check fuel pressure regulator. turn key to ON for four seconds, then OFF. repeat 3 times. on the last time, turn to START. If it starts right up, it’s the fuel pressure regulator. If it still cranks without starting, look elsewhere in fuel or ignition systems.

My 2006 VW Beetle was doing this after sitting overnight. It was a 5$ sensor "coolant temperature sensor" Of course after spending 215$ for nothing, this 5$ sensor was the issue 🎉🎉

What if your car cranks but doesn’t start with no codes on
  • @tarugo1851
okay... got one for you.. im working on a tug airport equipment.. crank no start but if i take out the fuel supply from the injectors, engine runs..it runs from the fuel that is on the fuel rail after it burns off engine dies.. you got anything from me
