The veteran actor and gospel singer Dennis Quaid recounts his early career, what made him give up his dream of becoming a veterinarian, how he realized he had a problem with cocaine and what he did to fix it, how Jerry Lee Lewis taught him to play the piano, and what it was like playing Ronald Reagan for his upcoming movie. And at the end of the episode—he sings a song! The movie REAGAN is in theaters August 30. See the trailer here    • REAGAN Movie Official Trailer (2024) ...

  • I met Ronald Reagan in New Orleans at a luncheon. The Secret Service emptied my purse and we got in line to meet him. I told him I was concerned bc he sounded like he had the sniffles. (Yes, I really said that) He said he had come from North Carolina and it was allergies. 3 times the photographer said Mr. President, we need to take the picture. We continued to talk. He had a glow about him. It was amazing. Like angels were there. My husband said nothing. Poor guy. Reagan put his arm around my waist and the photo was taken. When we left the hotel and we were walking to our car, his car was going down the street a short distance from us. He spotted us and waved. We waved back like old friends. It was like magic. I will never forget how wonderful a person he was.
  • Thank you for a great interview with three truly great guys! And, I'm so glad that Mr. Quaid set the record straight about Gus Grissom. The Right Stuff is one of my all-time favorite movies, but it's so sad that Gus Grissom was thrown under the bus for the sake of a plotline.
  • Dennis Quaid’s own life story is amazing and he is courageous to have shared it. God is merciful to us all. Love in abundance.
  • “Cocaine is fun…. Then it’s fun with problems… then it’s just a bunch of problems. That’s the way it is with any addiction.” Thank you Dennis and Mike for this amazing interview.
  • Ronald Reagan was the first Presidential vote I was able to cast, as well as being my first Commander-in-Chief.
  • The Right Stuff is prob my top 3 movies of all time... I watch it every time i see where i can watch it.. Never gets old!
  • Dennis Quaid and Mike Rowe, a great conversation. Getting personal without being too personal. How an interview ought to be.

  • 57:06 This hit hard. My husband was murdered along with 2 of my neighbors, I was shot clear through my body. Seeking God’s purpose in this and my life to come is overwhelming.
  • "Cocaine was wonderful." - Dennis Quaid. That actually made me laugh out loud. Much needed after a long week. Thanks, guys!
  • Coca Cola ad with “Mean” Joe Green. Iconic.
  • This was the best hour and fifteen minutes I've spent on a Friday night lately. Thank you, gentlemen!
  • Hello Mr. Rowe: Just watched your show with Mr. Quaid. Love him and enjoy your work. I had to tell you this story because my old friends name was Mike Rowe. So I thought. A few years after he passed I was at his retirement home with his grandson. Our understanding had always been his name was Mike. He was known as Big Mike in his circle of co-workers and friends. Well, Adam picks up Big Mikes bullhorn. He used it on building construction jobs in the Boston area. Adam looks at me and says, "I just found out from my mother that Grandpas name was Paul. They called him Big Mic because he was always in the bullhorn on the job site keeping things rolling." BIG MIC. And so the story goes.
  • "Have you driven a Ford.. lately" was a great jingle &: advertising campaign.
