"You have 18 chances in a round of golf to obtain a perfect lie by using a tee. To not use one is giving up an advantage for no reason." Jack Nicklaus
  • Crazy timing for this. I just watched your tee height video from… 4 years ago? Lol Haven’t watched this one yet but looking forward to how things have changed. Always look forward to each week from you.
  • GREAT CONTENT!! I've never seen a video to date by any creator that really focuses on tee height for par 3's, wedges and irons. Something that I've struggled with. Thank you for the indepth analysis and explanations.
  • Thanks for your video, so helpful to my technique and confidence; really appreciate your translation of principles into practice :). Really grateful
  • @mcosimi
    Great simple explanation. Good work.

Matt, I’m coming back to the game of golf after a 15+ year absence. I’ve been absolutely CONSUMING your videos. Great content! Your personality is engaging and you seem like someone I’d love to play a round with. That said this video is spot on to what I was taught back in the day. You should tee up every time you can because you should never pass up the opportunity for a perfect lie. Plus it takes the grass out of play. Any time you can take variables out, you should!

This was good video.....gonna help me find fairways more on narrow driving holes by teeing it up lower...
  • @monsterkxf
Probably the best info and help I ever got 🤘🤘
  • Great stuff! I think tee height is a topic that newer golfers might be a little embarrassed to ask about because it seems like something that would be so simple, but tee height can really dictate your ball flight. And, for driver, the height is something you have to experiment with to find what suits your swing.

Really enjoyed the video on tee height. I am 64 and a new golfer how do you take a divot. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

I agree! I watched a previous video from you that described suitable tee heights according to your club angle, ever since then I fixed my driver slice by teeing the ball lower! Granted I don't get a nice high ball flight as others, but at least my shots are much more consistent now. Thanks MrShortGame!
  • Matt, you are always giving awesome tips ! Remembering them once on the course is the hard part.

Crazy part about this, 8 years ago when I decided I wanted an uncurable addiction that would cost me thousands of dollars every year, and started playing golf, information like this was very hard to find. Also Tiger said in an interview once, I always use a tee. Why would I not want the chance to improve my lie? or something. He said many things, in many interviews.

Great explanation on the right way to tee the ball up correctly! I do the same thing!
  • Man I could have used this video a few days ago lol. Great info as always!

I'm about 33% above the clubface with my driver. We have people in our group that go NO tee with irons...I simply don't get it. Who doesn't want an extra 5% forgiveness? I don't know if I recall ever seeing a tour pro not use a tee on a par three...I obviously could be wrong...but I don't recall it.
  • @Theacman55
You’re exactly right when I tee up my driver if I go a little bit lower than having the ball mid center, I generally hit it straighter and further. For some reason when it’s a little higher half a ball above the driver, I slice
  • @losova7543
I tend to tee my ball up with maybe 1/4 to 1/3 above the club head and yes I lose some distance but I know it's going straight down the fairway and that's more important for me.
