Mike is a very humble gentleman. He actually helped write all of the Beatles songs.

True event: My three boys and I were singing to the Beach Boys on our way to Maine sometime around 1984 and we just finished singing "Furn, Fun, Fun" when a T-Bird passed us with license FUN FUN. That's absolutely true.

The Beach Boys and especially Brian Wilson has saved my life. I was severely depressed most of my life. I attempted to take my life years ago, which fortunately failed. During my recovery, which was in a recovery hospital for a month. During my time there, I learned a lot about myself. I listened to a lot of the Beach Boys hits, while I was there. So many of their songs gave me such positive vibes. I will forever be grateful for Brain and the Beach Boys and all their beautiful songs, that have saved my life and gave me a new perspective on life.

Although I have never met the guy personally, Dennis seemed like he would have been a nice guy to hang out with. REST IN PEACE DENNY.

I think there is plenty of blame, egotism, jealousy, guilt, credit, achievement, talent, etc., to go around for everyone. The lows were just as low as the highs were high. And as much as I love their music it still breaks my heart to hear what the Wilson boys went thru and how the disagreements tore the Wilson/Love family apart. Mike Love usually bears the brunt of the criticism, but he was the voice of The Beach Boys and deserves an equal amount of credit. Murray was an abusive, jealous monster, but without his support there probably wouldn’t be The Beach Boys. The whole saga is worthy of a Shakespeare-ian comedy/tragedy/drama. What a roller coaster ride.

Self medicating with drugs, alcohol and other addictive behaviors is always tragic but seeing it in these gifted artists who still managed to give so much to the world is heart wrenching knowing how much pain they were in everyday. Treatment for mental illnesses on top of childhood abuse (c-PTSD) still has a very long way to go but in the 60's and 70's was not adequate or nonexistent. Their inner strength to accomplish so much while suffering in so much pain shows so much character.
  • This is still the best documentary about the Beach Boys. They talk a lot more about the post Pet Sounds era then the Disney plus documentary.

Love how fast and catchy they were in the early stuff. Real rockers right there.
  • I adore them. I miss Carl. I place them at the highest levels personally, they are with the all time greats. This was a wonderful movie.
  • I doubt many people have thought about the level of stress that Brian worked under during the early years. At an age when his biggest worry should have been getting to college classes on time, Brian, a sensitive genius, had to tour, write, arrange, perform on, and produce 3 albums a year of what was in fact some very complicated music. Yes, musicians and even Capital record execs were in awe of him, and he made a lot of money, but the careers and incomes of many people rested on his ability to craft yet another hit song. Beatles producer George Martin said that, in creating Beatles’ music, the bulk of the creative load was shared by Paul, John, and himself, whereas Brian had to do most this work alone. Do not judge Brian harshly for his “nervous breakdown,” as the stress from such expectations of superhuman results had to be often crushing and unbearable.
