Don't mess with my people.

I saw this video on Twitter and YouTube recently of a guy who modified his phone case with propellers. Having a background in engineering it was pretty clear to me that it wasn't real but it seemed like most people believed it. This was especially irksome give that he was selling the items in the desc using affiliate links. So I did a deep dive on every last possible clue proving it was fake.

I started a company called CrunchLabs where we build a toy together and then I teach you all the jucy physics for how it works. So if you want to learn to think like an engineer and have really fun time doing it, check out the current promotion where you get 2 FREE boxes at crunchlabs.com

You should also go subscribe to the CrunchLabs YouTube channel cause we’ve got some bangers in the pipeline- youtube.com/crunchlabs

You didn't turn on airplane mode that's why.

Me: It's string. I bet it's string. Is it string? I bet it is! Captain Disillusion: It's a rod. Me: 😔

Imagine trying to take a photo and someone runs by and steals the whole phone

I love how Mark uplifts the weaker younger more inexperienced engineers, and never takes advantage or scams anyone.

“How did you die?” “I dropped a shovel on my head while making a point.”

Lesson of the video: Don’t mess with Mark’s people.

Fully agree, but should notice, phone itself has an accelerometer, of course you need fast interface with arduino (bluetooth/usb controller or something which not present on video)

Imagine being on a ship amd taking out you phone for a selfie, only for it to move back as it stays stable while the ship goes forwards
  • I feel like the reason we all love this guy is because he never clickbaits, and he never brags about how smart he is

Captain D is amazing, having both of you together is the best thing ever
  • @epiclyy
I will forever appreciate this video for introducing me to Captain D. Definitely has been one of my all time top YouTubers ever since this video released.

Mark rober: “I’m about to end this mans whole career”
  • You need to put Two propellers on top of each other stacked on one motor, then you make 4 motors around. Additionally you can use some casing around to make wind tunnel and thus concentrate the airflow. Military tested double propellers. The upward force should be enough to hold the phone for some time and when you include solar battery it will fly forever ,D

The fact that Mark dropped a shovel on his head to explain science to us is outstanding.

I CANNOT I SIMPLY CANNOT GET ENOUGH of the fact that this video and Captain D's video actively treat themselves as synchronous. Both Captain D's video and this video start their "joined" segment at exactly the same time. And Mark referencing that time being "Five minutes late" can either be attributed to the start of the video, or the first mention of Captain Disillusion. Either way, that simple attention to detail is lovely, and the fact this segment of the video runs basically identical is wonderful. Top-tier.
