In early 2024, Shantashia Stevenson said she came close to buying her "dream home" within the Townhomes of Wexford community but claimed its HOA got in the way. By the time our story aired, Stevenson had pulled out of the deal and eventually bought a home somewhere else. But that report proved to be just the beginning. Since the story aired, more than a dozen people who own or previously owned property in that community contacted ABC Action News.

  • I'd rather live in the woods with zombies and bears than live in an HOA.

There are absolutely ZERO need for HOA’s, none at all.

Has anyone else noticed that the people targeted by the HOA are more highly melanated? How pale is the HOA president? Who gives them their power?
  • My dream home would never be in a HOA community. If I buy a house, pay the mortgage, the taxes, and upkeep, no one's going to tell me what I can and cannot do with said home and land.
  • Since when does an HOA get to inspect the interior of a home? That sounds illegal as the HOA only takes care of the exterior, shared amenities, and infrastructure
  • YOU WILL NOT FIND YOUR DREAM HOME IN A HOA NOTHING BUT NIGHTMARE'S

This is exactly why the FIRST thing my Black ass told my realtor when I was searching for a house was "Absolutely no HOA!" The fck I look like letting a bunch of Karens and Chads dictate how I live.
  • Why the hell does the HOA have any legal right to inspect the inside of the home?
  • I’m not always the sharpest tool in the shed but this seems like TRUE RACISM

There is no way I would move into that home now.

Anyone else notice an obvious pattern with who the HOA has an issue with!? Looks like housing discrimination and someone needs to look into legal action. These HOAs seem more problematic than they are helpful.

Interesting that the HOA became docile once a cash buyer entered the picture. Makes you wonder if the two were in business together.
  • @QAsession
Do a petition!!!!!! Remove the board!!!!! It can be done.
  • @coryart
Would never buy where there's HOA.
  • Hoas need to be completely dissolved. They shouldn't have the power to do this. And they certainly shouldnt have the power to take away and forclose on someones home they own and have completely paid off.
