Also, as someone who has studied stage makeup in different eras now, the 90s through the present, doing what looks best on your face shape and with your skin tone will always be better looking than following trends that don't look good on your skin tone or with your hair color. I figured out what looks best on my face and I will keep doing that forever LOL

I have a theory that the minimal lip trend had more to do with the 2020 panini rather than a natural trend. It took a long time for all of us to want something more than a gloss or nothing at all because of the masks. Then when masks were no longer a thing, we didn't really get companies bringing out new lip products or advertising lip trends until mid year this year.

I’m 51 and have seen lots of trends come and go. I believe things like a slicked back hairdo, a bob, red lipstick, and so on are timeless. I think it’s the trendy things we will look back on and cringe. The enormous eyelashes, the spiky eyebrows, and the overly ‘dewy’ skin just to name a few.

It's taking way too long for cool metallic shadows to come back. As soon as Y2K became a hashtag, we should've seen frosty blue metallics hit the market.

I hear YouTubers say bold lashes are out but that must be a social media analysis because in these streets I see tons of ladies and girls wearing the super huge, moth like, eyelashes with no other makeup (which is a very strange look), so in the actual world, not sure how out of date the lashes are….i’m not a fan, but it’s pretty prevalent, even my husband noticed it and he couldn’t care less about makeup😂
  • Dewy skin & blush look so healthy.. I'm not giving it up lol. Matte almost always looks more makeupy

I'm so happy cool tones are back, for the last few years I had so many duds in eyeshadow palettes because it was waaaaayyyyy too warm for me! if there was even a hint of a brown/bronze shadow, I could basically throw the palette away 😵ans I love cool espresso or chocolate tones🥰 honestly, I don't really care what's trending, I wear what I like and feel comfy whether it's make up, hair or clothes, but I'm always happy if something I like is in, because it's so much easier to find gems 😍

As someone who has been off social media for over a year, I can clearly see I haven't missed much in regards to trends. 😂

80s teen/young adult here, we actually didn't wear our blush that high--you'd see it in videos, but mostly we'd do the whole suck your mouth in and sculpt under the cheekbone. And it was a bold streak bc most of us just used the brush in the compact-we didn't have access to brushes like today. I just had to pipe in. As for me, I have been happy to have blush back. I have strong contrast between my hair and skin, so I need some blush to not look washed out. I like plum/burgundy myself . Anyway, I am glad people at the very least have learned to love blush vs no blush, it will be interesting to see ehow it plays out. I like dewy, but i agree, it is played out. I am here for satin/lightly powdered and young folks, go full matte, it is tres chic especailly with a bold lip, little eye makeup. ..also very 90s One nugget of advice I like to pass on--save your jeans. Those cycle so much & yeah, save your jeans, purge your closet occasionally, except for your jeans. YVW.

I could never get on board with feather brows on my face but Barbie pink blush is not going anywhere (though maybe not as editorial/excessive as the current trend). I just hope everything I bought while this was trendy will not go bad before it comes back :)
  • @darksunnygirl
As a super cool toned person, I'm ecstatic that cool tones are finally back in. I've not bought many eyeshadows in years because I look terrible in warm toned makeup (the warm toned palettes I have get hardly any use). Cool toned taupes and silvers are my thing! Also bright red lips! Red is the only lip color that looks good on me. I hope red lips are there forever
  • @roxycocksey
Y’all can pry pink blush out of my cold dead hands lol. I’ve loved it since the mid 2000’s and waited for it to come back in style so I could find good ones in stores.
  • @erinnadia0409
My favourite thing about the bob is how elegant and flattering it looks on everyone and a bonus is that men hate it, and when they say "aw I liked you better with longer hair" it's all the sweeter 😂❤
  • @nitzeart
For my combo-dry skin, I will never give up dewy or luminous skin. It's so comfortable and goes with any eye or lip makeup. But I do think powdering certain areas of the skin can be helpful too like the T zone or for pores. But I think It's much easier to mattify later than start with a matte primer or foundation that will only feel heavy and uncomfortable on skin. At least for non oily skin types.
  • @LetsBiiny
I honestly think a bob is always a good idea, so many people look so good with a bob 😅
  • @Katya_Lastochka
How to be beautiful. Don't follow trends. Follow your own discernment.
  • @tammystiletto
I was wearing my coral orangey blush and I tried on my favorite blue based red lip and realized it was totally off. Following color theory and my own coloring needs I needed a pink blush. It really bugs me when companies go for trendy trends rather than honoring our color stories.
  • I wonder if, as we move to more neutral blush colors and shadow colors along with natural and less dewy foundations, contouring will come back stronger. Without a strong blush and dewy finish people may find they need to contour to add dimension without color or massive highlights/dewy-ness. Also, trends are cyclical.
  • @streetfamily6909
So glad the trends I never quit are coming back around 😂 I’m cool again
  • @morggylynn
Bangs are definitely about to come back in 2024. I think the side part with the side bangs also!! And just straight across bangs are coming too! Little wispy ones to leave out of buns and high ponytails! My nieces wear the little butterfly clips that I wore. I do think an ugly trend (sorry everyone) is the braided bangs down the front.. I cannot 😂
