  • This song and Reeling in the Years are my two favorite songs by Steely Dan
  • My Old School is a good one to hear as well as the ones mentioned below by others. Imagine hearing this music when it came out in the early 70's. Out of this world incredible.
  • @mikewritz
The “guitar” solo was actually an electric sitar. Makes a great sound and I love how steely throws different instruments into every song just to mix it up while still playing every instrument to perfection even if it’s a one off.
  • Hey 19 and Peg should be next on your Steely Dan journey...you can't go wrong with just about any of their songs however.
  • Stay with Steely Dan - you won't be disappointed. Always something new and different, but always wonderfully produced. They really took the time to get it right.

Excellent reaction. No clutter, no pauses, no egotistical soliloquies, no extended instructions on You Tube operation, etc., etc.. Awesome. Keep going with Steely Dan. They are in a class by themselves. Read up on Fagen and Becker. Dedication to their roots in every song. They've been top quality on so many levels since the early '70s.. There is musicianship, best-of-breed players, melodic depth, lyrics that keep you thinking and re-visiting, jazz and funk chops with blues shades in buckets. Originality at their core. No banal synthetic filler aloud. Ok, I'll shut up.
  • " Ricky don't lose that number " is an amazing track ❤️
  • My favorite new reactor. Love your insights, really love that you play the songs straight thru and your enthusiasm is infectious. Bravo!
  • Steely Dan is a very deep rabbit hole, and worth spending a LOT of time in! I know you guys are all about "singles" and reactions, but for your own sake, listen to these entire albums! This is their FIRST album, and the web only gets more complex. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker were Steely Dan, and the lineup changed constantly, with the exception of those two. These guys were perfectionists, and it shows! You're a drummer, so you will be in heaven listening to the likes of Jeff Porcaro, Jim Gordon (who played with everybody!), and Bernard Purdie. This ever changing lineup really gives this band a lot of spark throughout the catalog. Listen to it all!
  • Absolutely love this band. Every song is a journey and all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. Check out "FM"(No Static at All)." Great song.
  • my understanding is that it was a Hammond organ. I really enjoy seeing young people falling in love with great music 🎶. Thank you for sharing with us.
  • It’s easy to throw accolades at Steely Dan, as they are so well deserved. So much about their songs that is complex yet smooth, rich and simplified, to put you in a zen state of mind. These guys were masters of their craft. Congratulations on another superb ‘reaction.’
  • One of their first hits that has been played on FM radio for nearly fifty years!

When the Beatles broke up in 1970 this band ( Steely Dan) took the baton of popular music and ran with it like a gazelle. If you look  at their catalogue of compositions I don't think any group can compete with either the quality or volume of their music.
