  • 'Runaround Sue' may have turned Dion into 'The Wanderer' his follow up hit. Definitely worth a listen 😀
  • @NoahFroio
This song came out in Sept. 1961, the follow-up to this is called 'The Wanderer' (Nov. 1961), which is well worth a listen and shows what Sue's cheating did to poor Dion. hahaha!!
  • @BoomBoom77156
This is from the movie “Twist around the clock”. Everyone in that room was an actor except Dion. The guys behind him are not even singing or playing instruments. Obviously it was lip synched for the movie. The Del Satins backed Dion on most of his solo hits. Dion left the Belmonts in 1960. This song was recorded mid 1961

He's 82 and still rocking. He has put out some great blues albums in the last few years.
  • @surlechapeau
Asia & BJ, you'll love their "A Teenager in Love" and Dion DiMucci's "The Wanderer" and "Ruby Baby"!!! This song is actually credited as Dion solo 1961! His backing singers on Runaround Sue and all his solo work was the Del-Satins.
  • @jerrystansfield
Dion is in his early 80’s and just completed an album still sounds great and looks great for his age

Yes Asia...this is a movie from the early 60s, from the 1961 movie "Twist Around the Clock," about the time I was born (1962). And remember, it is less than ten years since Rock-n-Roll was born so the audience in this club are supposed to act as though they've never heard this sort of music before...and have no idea what to do with it.
  • Hey you got to remember that in those days Rock'n'roll was a very new genre. Only the teenagers went crazy with in the 1950's and early 60's. Dion was only 22 in this clip.
  • @bostonvair
This was 1961, nearing the end of the Doo Wop era (roughly 1955-1963-ish). Classic song. Fun fact. Released around the same time as this song was Dion's "The Wanderer" in which the tables are turned on who the unfaithful person is. I'm not sure what this video is from... it does look kind of like it's from a movie.
  • @guystephens2881
fun fact . Dion was on the ill fated winter dance party tour with Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly. He balked at paying a months rent for the plane ticket and the rest is history.
  • @colonelb
Another great song of his is "The Wanderer" which has been in a bunch of movies and commercials over the years. It's worth checking out.

Back in the 50,s and early 60,s, You had different classes of Dinner and Dance clubs. The higher class it was the more reserved the people were. They would call it civilized. Others would call it boring. Me personally I wouldn't mind a show without screaming, yelling and people jumping all over the place once in awhile. But I also like a Jam party. Just depends on the mood.
  • @ct8449
Dion has a great song called Abraham, Martin and John, also New York is my Home written for Sam Cooke. Both are really good.
  • @ericsmith6615
Wife here..This was my parents music..They cherished the records ...married young....Learned to Shag with parents during vacations at Myrtle beach to this..".She gonna do ya dirty.."..U2 never disappoint.
  • This was a common sight, adults sitting in confusion wondering what this "NOISE" is. Rock and Roll was not accepted for many years and guitar rock was thought to be a passing phase for a long time. Plus dancing was reserved for dances. You can see even Led Zeppelin shows where people sit mesmerized.
  • @gkiferonhs
Remember that back in the day, to get sound and images was a big deal. You literally had to shoot a movie. This was a very artificial environment (it might even have been on a sound stage at Warner or one of the other studios) and this might have been the fifth take for this song.
  • @kevincaulder20
Dion is the best !!! I can't wait for Asia to go crazy for THE WANDERER, RUBY BABY, and a cover of the Chuck Berry classic, NADINE. Dion brought swagger and a carefree rascal attitude to his early songs that won over his audiences. The do-wop hand clapping and perfectly measured vocals deliver the message with a style now long gone.
