So a few months ago while I was jonesing to melt something, I encountered this book -- called Make It Up, by Marie Rayma -- which details how to make pretty much every beauty and body product you can think of, custom and from scratch. And being the lipstick fiend that I am, I decided to follow one of her lipstick recipes to make myself a custom lipstick (color and base) from scratch. What do you think of my final color? What product should we tackle next?

At this point, the amount of wax in Saf's house (candles and lipstick) is probably enough to make her own wax figure.

Honestly I feel like you should do a whole series of making your own makeup and then testing against store bought, like have it face off (haha) against a drug store brand, then a nicer brand, then designer brand, etc. that would be a lot of fun to watch!

18:16 "I think we created my lip color" made me laugh so much more than it should have LMAO just watching the application and thinking "is anything even getting on?" also calling it hotdog literally a few seconds before is pretty funny too, considering how it lines up.

Fun fact: Jojoba oil is actually super close to the oils we produce naturally, hence why a lot of beauty products use that oil as a carrier oil, and why it’s also used super often in nail oils (basic recipe is same amount of vitamin e oil and jojoba oil), because it soaks in super easily, and helps carry things like vitamin e directly into the skin or nail bed.

Saf, I'd suggest a new lipstick test: Hair getting in face test. The other day I was outside in the wind with my hair loose and I was wearing lipstick... my hair kept sticking to my lipstick and it actually transferred to the rest of my face like tiny single hair brush strokes
