California Tide Pools Animals Guide | California Travel Tips

Published 2009-09-24
California travel expert Veronica Hill shares a California Tide Pools Animals Guide at the tide pools of Laguna Beach in this episode of "California Travel Tips."

Montage Resort's resident tide pool expert, Stacy Adelman, points out some of the most common tide pool animals and plants found in the Southern California tide pools, and Treasure Island tide pool is considered one of the best tide pools in California.

These fun tidepool tours are one of many special outdoor programs offered for children enrolled in the Montage Laguna Beach "Paintbox" children's program.

Its at the Anjifa Beach in Kuwait. When I was like 5 or 7 Me and my brothers and Grandpa always go there after school and sometimes I get scared when I come to the tide pools (because of the crabs and sea snails). Its really a great time to go there in low tide and Anjifa Beach is an awesome place to have a picnic at sunset because sometimes I see people have a barbecue there and sometimes I see kids that have buckets and bottles for looking for sea life in those tide pools.
  • Here in California as well! We spotted the opaleye, sculpin and a garibaldi during our outing at Treasure Island beach tide pool! Thanks for your comment!
  • Thanks M! You will love this tide pool! I'd never seen fish before until this visit. It's a really great spot.

I was there last year, the video does not do justice to all you see and can learn. There was a super nice young lady there to show you the sea life and give you a hand out to help you spot creatures! Great video. What a beautiful spot in Southern California.
  • Hi Tim! It sure would be nice to have an extra hand! Thanks for the nice comment. We were quite busy during this recent shoot and filmed quite a few fun videos in Laguna. Now if only we could travel and actually relax, LOL!

Veronica, Are you hiring? I want to be your Key Grip. Surely you need someone to help you go to all these fabulous places. Your videos keep getting so much better. Wow!

Did you even visit La Jolla San Diego tidepools?
  • @TheORLYTV No, we haven't filmed there yet. We hope to make it there this summer and explore the caves as well!
  • Thank you! I was surprised myself at how many creatures really live in there. I guess there are even octopi from time to time, but they disguise themselves pretty well. I also learned that an octopus can change colors with its surroundings, much like a chameleon. As always, thanks for commenting. You are always so kind. Veronica
