I've always found things like Jack the Ripper and the Blackout Ripper interesting, it always really intrigues me when I learn stories like this.
-
I get more history from Simple History, Feature History, Armchair Historian, and Time Ghost History than I do History Channel these days.

Plague doctors used to pull people’s teeth out when they were sick, and would pull out the nerves, thinking the nerves were evil souls making the patient sick

What amazed me when I was first learning about the 1665 Black Plague of London is that some people who caught the bubonic plague did, amazingly, survive. Lancing the buboes may have helped, may have not, but it was extremely painful. Blistering poultices were also used on the buboes, causing still further suffering and pain for the patient. Pneumonic plague was much deadlier, and swift. I can’t imagine the horror of living through a plague year. The chaos and terror as people drop like flies around you, and, in the 1665 London plague, being locked up in your home with a guard outside, keeping you imprisoned as your family died helpless and trapped.
-
imagine serving 7 years in a prison with tough conditions and harsh weather just because you stole shoes

As kids we still sang the Lizzie Borden song (I was a kid in the 80s) I did not know it was a true story until saw a movie about it as an adult. I really enjoyed this video thanks for History lessons
