  • Links to everything mentioned in the video can be found in the video description. This video was originally only intended for my Chinese channel, as there isn't much about Saturn homebrew in that language (and you can still spot a place in the video where I forgot to change the language to English!). However, since I had already gone to the effort of editing the video I thought it would be worth doing an English narrated version too. Hopefully it'll inspire some people to get into Saturn dev! Anyway, that really is my last video until late October. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I'll see you all then!

When I see Unreal or even Shenmue running on the Saturn - I get floored. I can’t imagine the fresh hell it was getting them going, but with the right talent, it speaks to just how powerful the hardware was respectively.
  • They actually have a homebrew competition every year for this kind of stuff

It’s nice to see the Sega Saturn getting some love too from talented people from our community including you too and can’t wait to see more from some of theses games 👍 great video
  • @EmeraldNova
Thank you for the video showcase on the community's 3D efforts. I'd like to invite everyone interested in trying out their own Saturn homebrew to compete in this year's annual game competition hosted on the Sega Xtreme forums and my website. I'll link the previous year's results in a reply. There are cash and physical prizes for ranking projects and multiple categories to compete in.

What-If Sonic Mania + in SEGA Saturn Metal Gear in SEGA Saturn Resident Evil 2 in SEGA Saturn ✔ Resident Evil 3 in SEGA Saturn Streets of Rage 4 in SEGA Saturn and SEGA Dreamcast Sonic Fighters in SEGA Saturn Rayman 2 in SEGA Saturn
  • @Bloodyshinta1
couple of them remind me of ninpen manmaru which i just started playing and shows off the Saturn really well, the infinte planes really add to the feeling of presence.
  • @sdmayday
Jo engine is pretty cool. I made an astroids clone with it once with rotating sprites, sfx and some cd music and it was rather easy to use and a fun experience. The most diffucult part was setting everything up on a vm and not trippin' over the typos in SEGAs documentation.
  • @SpiralPegasus
What a pity that RE2 and Tomb Raider 2 aren't going to be full games. Here's me hoping that changes in the future! Excellent video, as ALWAYS!
  • @lordterra1377
I really like the lack of texture wobble on the Saturn but the Playstation had superior lighting effects. Many of these lack the dark moody atmosphere the PSone could achieve.
  • @happycritter
That unreal port absolutely blew me away. It's so great to see new life being breathed into this criminally underrated console.
  • @IgnoreSolutions
Awesome video, I love seeing what people are doing with the Saturn as someone who’s currently building an engine for Dreamcast, Vita, and PC
  • @SpiralPegasus
Also, Bulk Slash is the most impressive localization I've ever seen. Amazing that they found not one nor two but seven voice actresses willing to work in/for such a small niche market, too.
  • @TheDunbartxeen
using the 4M Cartridge like Action replay should be not a stopper. it is basically a must have for the system
  • @TailsOfSaturn
Thank you so much for the shout out at the end of your video. It means the world to us! 😊
  • @GreyMatterShades
Great job with the video. It's always cool to see a homebrew/indie scene start up for old systems. Personally though I'm still more interested in Genesis stuff, and would also love to see Sega CD get supported in SGDK. Best of luck working on SotN!

Does anybody else notice how Saturn graphics are FAR more solid than PSX graphics thanks to its perspective corrected quads? It just needed texture filtering to be perfect
