This is a discussion topic video about the fifth generation of videogame consoles. This will be part one of my seven part mini-series. This will be a general video about almost all of the nine (yes really) consoles, the FM Towns Marty, Commodore Amiga CD32, NEC PC-FX, 3DO, Atari Jaguar, Apple Pippin, Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation, and Nintendo 64.

I was born in 1991. I remember playing the snes at my cousins house when i was like 7. In about 1998 my dad bought me a n64. This was the first generation of console i really feel apart of.

This is my favorite gen of all time. The gimmickyness, the charm of those polygons, the nostalgia, and most of all, the sheer variety of games you could play. One would argue that the N64 was just for kids for it's smorgasbord or E rated platformers, the Playstation was for adults for all the survival horror, or that sega was just for die hard Sega fanboys, all three platforms actually had an even mix of E-M rated titles, spanning multiple genres and sub genres. And that's not even including the PC. The only "kiddie" platform was the Gameboy, and even that had a few T rated titles.
  • I was a baby in 1996 so I was a baby during this generation and I can't explain or understand why I always had a interest in video games which is why I am subscribed to you

fifth gen is probably my favorite, maybe because it was part of my childhood although I grew up with SNES, but I always found the fifth gen as a benchmark of new and even risky possibilities in gaming, one of the reasons why the first Playstation is my all time favorite console, not trying to be a Sony follower or a PS fanboy but most games that I loved were on PS1, btw I'm not really fond of 8th gen

I love my PS1 with a passion! It really showed the power videogames create display, not just gameplay wise, but with stunningly beautiful music and fantastic, immersive stories. So many fantastic games were on it too, with MGS, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Crash Bandicoot, Ape Escape, Wipeout and so much more. It was truly a beautiful machine!

this was a great opener, and i'm glad you decided to do this. i'm not surprised that you mentioned a bunch of stuff that i didn't know already, but i was surprised by some of the stuff i didn't know! 9 consoles in that generation!? dayum..  this is gonna be good.. waits for the next vid
  • @Gintaras64
That was really great video. You know so much and it's so interesting to listen to you!
  • @AlexKolakowski
so glad you included the obscure consoles. The 3Do, and jaguar etc. were soo mysterious and cool when I was a kid.
  • @AdamKoralik
+Logan Gaastra No I didn't, the Virtual Boy isn't a console. Technically, despite its odd nature, it's a handheld or portable device.
  • @lejacobo
I really like your acknowledgedness and your insight, so hearing you tell these stories about old consoles is pretty fun and cool. Thanks for doing this series

This generation had the one console I mostly regret never to own, the Sega Saturn. I wanted the N64, but my dad said Playstation is better, so I choose the Playstation and yes, for me this was the best choice. The Saturn I didn't see in the big electronic markets here in Germany in 1997, only Playstation and N64. And I didn't know anyone who had one.
  • Awesome video Adam can't wait to see the rest if this series. I'm especially excited to here about the Sega Saturn since that's a console that I know very little about. Keep up the good work!
  • @joewall2217
Omg I was gonna ask for this last video. This is what bought me to your channel I have never looked back. Thank you Adam. You are fucking awesome.
  • My first video gaming experience ever was on the N64. I'm sure you will have nothing but good things to say about the console in part two, hehe. The game was Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.

  • @NotTheRealJoker
I feel the same way looking back on this generation. As a kid we were blown away by the PS1 and the N64. Everybody had one or both. So many good games. So many memories. I hope you can share your memories of the N64 and PS1 as well as a kid
  • @MrLeo34
