Lexus is going the wrong direction with small turbo engines, plastic interiors, and less premium feel with higher costs.
  • This video is going to make a lot of GX460 owners really, really happy about they're investment. I'm surprised Lexus cheaped out like this.

I purchased the lexus gx 460 2023 with your recommendation. I'm so happy with this purchase and I look forward to many years of enjoying it with myself and son. Thank you being so informative Josh! I get what you're saying about the quality and technical issues you mention.

GREAT video. I work in sales for this brand and you’re spot on about the changing demographic. I’m all for Lexus making an off roader but I can tell you from what I’ve seen of 550 sales, the buyers are very different. GXs used to be sold in cash to people who knew exactly what they would cost. Almost every new 550 buyer has traded in some non-luxury SUV or truck that we have to send to auction, can’t give them top dollar on, and they’re being leased or financed at astronomical monthlys and long loan terms. That historically is not the Lexus customer and is not the customer who’s going to come back to Lexus for their next car.
  • Detailed take on the 550, well done, I can almost feel riding it as well the way you describe it. Thank you.

Lexus is no longer a luxury brand. I think Toyota is making a big mistake.

Just purchased a 23 GX 460 Premium, and this makes me a proud owner.

Continuous improvement. Lets hope Lexus gets the memo and they improve the 550 and make it more worthy of the Lexus name.

Thanks for the video - the folks who are most excited about this vehicle are the ones who don't own the GX460 - they have not experienced the overall refinement of that vehicle, including the surefooted handling, even in inclement weather, and the interior build quality and materials. Its also very quiet even at speed, something you really appreciate over time.

My Lexus dealership gave me this book when I picked up my wife’s new lx600 the other day. I’ve got the gx460 from 2022, and am not planning on trading it for the gx550. Glad to hear your validation of this plan. The lx interior is top notch, btw.

The cost of a new Toyota Tacoma is in Lexus territory.

Everything you said is what I experienced on a quick demo drive. The vibrations at idle and the ride showed the car isn't ready.

Really good review. At first I thought you might be a "company man" type that would hide vehicle deficiencies, but no, you were honest and upfront. Really appreciate that!
  • the silliest joy I get from the GX460 is trashing it offroad then returning to pavement minutes later feeling like I'm in a early 90s Lincoln Towncar. I have to look at the car to convince myself it's the same car. The refinement of KDSS is amazing, along with the now missing lux in this GX550. No e-kdss and 3rd row option is unforgivable. Feels like Lexus of Japan gave too much power to their American arm. Kinda like the downfall of SEGA back in the day. Thank you for the excellent comparison. Our 22 Sienna has that same fake plastic wood. lol...

I'm so glad your videos convinced me to grab a 460 two months ago when stocks were dwindling. Thank you for making such informative videos.
  • @husshardan3511
Excellent review. This is the first one I've seen pointing out cheapening in materials etc. Appreciated.
  • @gwilli1754
I love this video!!! Great job, giving an actual opinion, not just regurgitating back what Lexus says, which is unfortunately the reality of most “reviews.”
  • @mantispym
Bro, don’t stop making content! Love this channel so much

I hope the folks at Lexus see this video, especially the beginning where the book is discussed and what they maybe “used” to pursue. I’ve been waiting to see what the new GX would bring, as I’ve been contemplating getting rid of my 958 GTS. Think I’ll keep it for now. I did find 3 new GX460s in Richmond, VA..at least listed on the web. Maybe I’ll check if they are still available and consider that.
  • I really liked your video in general because it was an in-depth video about every single detail about the new GX 550. Keep up the good work ❤
