The LX is indeed the Landcruiser, but the GX is not a 4Runner; it’s very well known internationally as the Landcruiser Prado.
  • @Soh90
The ride, the price, none of that stuff matters. What matters is LOOK at that thing. It looks bad ass. I cannot wait for this to start hitting dealerships.
  • @jamesday7344
I’ve got an 2022 RX, for some reason I don’t think I’d be as critical of this new GX as these two gentlemen. Good day
  • @AyoBrownKid
I agree on the price. At 85K you start to look at the GLS/X7. Yes they’re targeting the off-road community, but again why have a Luxury trim with all these extra bits. It’s still a beautiful vehicle. People will buy this. This thing will be seen in suburbs for the next 25+ years. This is giving my dad has a good job vibes.
  • @omnimoeish
Yes this is Lexus's Range Rover competitor. I'll tell you why this vehicle exists. My wife wants a Range Rover to drive to work and take our son to school. I want a car I can tow a boat or trailer with. We could afford a Range Rover but I don't want the hassle of dealing with the reliability problems.

Absolutely love my luxury plus GX 550! Really hate the small gas tank, but no regrets.
  • @Dillingham-
Lexus has a lot of GX lovers in their home market, mostly in urban environments. Upon seeing the Overtrail marketing, Japanese auto journalists voiced their concerns over lost civility at the launch event. Lexus created the luxury trims with these customers in mind.
  • @CJ-rk5eg
The Overtrail (NOT +) at ~$73k is the sweet spot in the lineup. Here in Southern California dealers are either marking up $10-13k or installing useless options that can’t be removed that add up to the same amount of mark up. Need to wait a year or two for the market to cool down and the markups go away. The Overtrail is better than the new LC 250 because the cargo area is larger since there’s no hybrid battery
  • @Scorpio1075
I love the GX550 because the boxy design gives great outward visibility and interior space. Also, the truck-like driving personality provides the GX550 with a real personality.

Picked up a CPO LX 570 after test driving the GX 550. We love the LX.

Excellent review as usual. I think some of the trim choices on vehicles comes down to catering to people's impressions. Lets face it, a lot of folks buy cars just for their looks. Heck, I know of people who bought vehicles because they liked the color! One so-called "reviewer" referred to the smaller wheels on a vehicle as "being dorky", regardless of the fact that those wheels brought better fuel economy and a better ride, he would choose the bigger wheels just because they looked good. Some people are just gonna go for those big wheels regardless.
  • I’m a dad of 4 kids and severely limited on 6 seaters. I won’t drive a TX. It sounds like you don’t like this car as a 7 or 6 seater. What do you think are my options?
  • @clubracer6
It’s really a cool looking truck, but I simply do not have a use case for it and think our 22 MDX is tough to beat. About to turn 30k miles and really happy with it.
  • @costaricasurf66
Love a car review video where two people talk over each other other the whole time. Said nobody. Thought I was somehow listening to 2 videos at once.
  • @mkei8973
Hi, from Japan!! I have thought you might have been recording a new long trip video because it took a little bit of time for updating this newest video since the last one. I’m looking forward to seeing trip videos coming someday. By the way, I think this GX550 is a good car but the wheels are too huge. Car wheels of Toyota and Lexus have been going too huge and huge nowadays!!
  • @tlaccord
I love it looking forward for my next vehicle early next year. Yes a Lexus G Wagon
  • @garymcgowan4057
Thank you for saying the GX existence doesn't make sense. The G-wagon theory is really interesting, that makes so much sense. All of the influencers want g-wagons and Lexus wanted some of that market. When you see the 4runner, land cruiser, and GX, you would think the GX would be really luxurious and nice riding. But no it's not. And then they made a land cruiser off road trim too, which makes no sense. I'm on board with it now being called the Lexus G-wagon.
  • @tjnptel1
The previous generation GX460 was based on the Land Cruiser Prado not the 4Runner. The current GX550 is based on the Land Cruiser Prado which is also the Toyota Land Cruiser in USA. That’s why the Land Cruiser and Gx550 look similar. The current Lexus LX is based on the full size Land Cruiser 300. Know your products before reviewing them. The

A luxury trim with more wood and option for smaller wheels solves the issue.
