This song makes me happy and sad at the same time. A guy I’m super interested and I are both leaving extreme abuse and while we are both so hurt, we are trying to lift each other up. He is worth all of it no matter what happens. A true friend for life.

I never understood this song as a kid... I just thought it sounded nice... until I experienced my first cut... and boy was it deep. She cut me real deep.

Mamn, they make even broken hearts not so black the sing it so well n compassionate. Omgosh, its insane. Even though this song is about the loss of a 1st love, this song for me cuts deeper. It got me in my feelings and completely broke me down. On March 30, 2020, I lost my uncle, Charles "Chuck" Harris to Covid-19 (AKA Coronavirus). He was the glue that held my mom's side of the family together. My mom grew up in a family of 10 siblings (4 boys, 6 girls). Uncle Chuck's death was the 1st time she's lost a sibling and to hear her cry the night he passed cut me like a knife cause when she hurts, I hurt. He's left behind a lot of siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandkids. We're all reeling from this and we're all leaning on God to get us through this difficult time right now. This disease is real. I don't like what it's done to my family and countless others. If you've never had anyone impacted by this, count your blessings. I pray you never have to suffer like I am. For those who have lost someone, you have my love, prayers, and support. This cut is deep, but God above along with the love and memories are gonna help you to heal. 🙏🙏🙏

I've been listening to this song for years, but I didn't really get it until I was eighteen and fell in love for the first time with a boy (not a man, mind you) who spent a year making me think I'd gotten lucky on my first try, all while he cheated on me with six girls who were my friends at the time. So yeah, now I know the first cut IS the deepest.

After a year I broke up with my first boyfriend. Well technically he broke up with me. But he was someone that said he would never break my heart and really fooled me. The first cut is indeed the deepest I couldn’t agree more with this song!
