Ashley Benefield continued to take the stand on Friday morning after breaking down during her testimony. She later continued to tell the jury about her and Doug’s relationship before things took a turn for the worst. Benefield also touched on her tense relationship with her step-daughter, Eva.

In September 2020, Ashley Benefield ran to a neighbor's house in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and stated she had just shot her husband. Douglas Benefield had several gunshot wounds to his leg, arm, and chest area. Ashley Benefield claims she shot him in self-defense after months of alleged abuse. She was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Ashley Benefield made bail and has been living with family and her daughter since the crime.

    Who knows if she was tormented and battered by him - the answer is no one. She's young and beautiful, so you've all decided she is guilty. He didn't sound quite right either, marrying a kid after knowing her a few days. Unfortunately their bad judgement led to this. I feel sorry for the daughter. The dad (my he rest in peace) didn't handle that well either. I hope his daughter finds strength and peace.

    she does look extremely stressed. i dont know enough to make a judgement. im not a juror. she does seem alittle light spoken to appear soft and vulnerable but he could have been emotionally abusive. regardless .Who gets married in 3 weeks. got to be alittle off!!
