Skyward Sword deserves better.

Don't shoot, I have three cats! Fighting the Imprisoned three times isn't enough to detract from an enjoyable Zelda experience!!! Also, make sure to mew.

SKYWARD SWORD IS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE ZELDA GAME AND YOU CAN ALL FIGHT ME I CRY WHENEVER PEOPLE HATE ON IT

Even given the extreme linearity of SS, with things like the sailcloth, stamina wheel, and upteen number of items you can collect and upgrade, it's clear SS walked so BotW could...uh...climb.

Personaly I've never been burned out by the traditional formula, I really dont know why, maybe its because the reason I played Zelda games was strictly for the dungeon and story, so I didn't really care how the structure was as long as the dungeons and story was good. I also got into Zelda at around 2010, which meant that most Zelda games were out already.
  • Skyward sword is so much better than people treat it as. One of the only games I've truly felt emotionally impacted by
  • Groose was SUCH a good character. So fun and his character development was sooo good
  • I absolutely do not see the “restricted access to the open world” until towards the end of the game as a downside of the classic formula. I think not immediately being able to go to every place on the map at the beginning of the game is actually a good thing. It makes for some really great moments when you obtain a new method of traversal. In A Link to the Past when you get the power glove that allows you to move rocks, suddenly you remember all sorts of places around the map where you saw rocks you couldn’t move, and you see the whole world in a new light. That kinda thing makes getting a new and useful item or ability exciting! In BotW and TotK (I love them both, I really do) there’s nothing like that. You can reach any part of the map at any point, go anywhere…it’s boring. There’s never a moment in those games where you suddenly see the whole overworld in a completely new light. Increasing health and stamina isn’t really as exciting as getting a hookshot, for instance, and cooking meals to brave cold environments etc. just doesn’t hit the same. I do love both games, but there’s absolutely something missing with a “true” open world. Aonuma is so, so wrong about this. It baffles me that he can’t see it.

Skyward Sword fell into bandwagon hate just like Zelda 2. I played Skyward Sword when it came out. I played it in the most worst possible way, a broken wii remote plus that would constantly disconnect from the nunchuck yet in even that circumstance I enjoyed the game.

I actually thought the motion controls were not that bad
  • @kirbo4025
Am I the only one who never had a problem with Fay?
  • For me, this game is the best Zelda game ever! The motion controls are the best form of combat in the Zelda series and the dungeons are pretty awesome. I just wish it had an ocrina of time style of hub world, but whatever

Skyward Sword is my favorite 3d zelda because of how linear it is
  • I heard they put Fi into the silent realm in the HD version and improved the controls. If they added a new funky mode starring Groose I would have picked it up day 1. Love that guy.

Tbh the calibration and motion control issues was mainly a switch exclusive. Everything was accurate on the Wii. If it wasn't working that's because your nunchuck wasn't connecting, which would be a system issue, not game.
  • My first Zelda game was A Link Between Worlds, yet Skyward Sword is my favorite.
  • @Night_Quest
I really admire your editing skills. Keep up the good work Jojo. Also, SKYWARD SWORD RULES!

One of the most flaw in f this game is that it did not included the Second Quest story. Nintendo was originally gonna put a playable Zelda in this game. But that unique concept is eventually scrapped and sent it to used for the game's credits. Personally I wanted to see her own adventures from her point of view.

I super couldn’t agree more, I’ll admit it may be some amount of nostalgia talking, but I freakin love this game!
  • I love Skyward Sword, ever since I rented it for the Wii over a decade ago. I'm the type of person who likes Dungeons and Combat the most in a Zelda game. And what do you think are the two areas that Skyward Sword is the best at?
