How to Use Spotify - Beginner's Guide

Spotify is a music streaming platform with over 50 million songs that you can listen to any time on demand.

Spotify is available on Spotify.com and on mobile and desktop apps for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC.

There are two versions of Spotify. A free version supported by ads and you can only skip a few songs at a time.

And there is a paid version starting at $10 a month that is ad-free and you can also skip as many songs as you like.
You can also listen offline by downloading them, meaning you don't need an internet connection to stream the music.
There are also options for family and students.

The Spotify platform will get to know you over time and recommend music to you as you use the app more.

Inside of the Spotify app, you can create playlists and much more that we will cover in this video.

Aye how do I play the song I want instead of just playing some random ass song I don’t want to listen to
  • I am a 65 year old bar musician that is not very tech savvy. I'm in my car a lot and want to listen to good music so I wanted to download the Spotify app and give it a try. There's a lot going on in the app and was reluctant to dive into it but after watching your video I decided why not. Thank you for a very easy to watch and informitive video!

I find it so money-hungry that Spotify makes you pay to listen to the music you wanna listen to lol
  • Idk how a music app is this hard I'm just trying to play one song and can't

That was an excellent lecture thank you very much, very concise and clear, I now know how to actually use the Spotify app. Cheers from across the pond 👍
  • Personally I think that if a modern application needs a 10+ min long explanation video just to get started, it has already failed. There are UX specialists out there, why not use their power when designing an app.

  • Thank you so much, that was very helpful. Sometimes I feel very old.

My 'Your library' headings are different to yours, they have little bubbles instead of headings - maybe mine is a newer release but I prefer your set up

Really new to Spotify, I have premium. How can I stop a full album playing when I only want one or two songs ?

4:38 Here you go into the songs list, and I noticed a number below the song title. I assume that is the number of times the track has been played in Spotify, correct? Also, does that number represent a time frame, like "number of times played in the last month?", "... last year?" or like since the track was added to Spotify?
