You can tell we were as surpised as you were! 🙈 Chad, thank you for exceeding expectations in this challenge! You can now play along to this song and Chad's most iconic RHCP songs inside Drumeo (with note-for-note sheet music AND drum-less versions of each song). I'm sorry, but NO ONE will top this "first time hearing"... this is the peak. Chad is a legend.
  • @Travis041
"That wasn't bad!". The man listened to a drum-less track for a whole 30 seconds and then played the rest of the song almost note for note. Absolutely insane.
  • @ApHoney
8 Months later and I still randomly come back and rewatch this. Just randomly starts 40 seconds into the song and absolutely murders it. Like if someone who didn't know Chad they'd just assume "oh thats the drummer from 30 Seconds to Mars doing a live play through of the kill".
  • @nkyryry
Once he heard it’s in 3, his experience told him exactly what the song needed. And he was so fucking right.
  • @shjobbi
I love how he nailed it after 30 seconds. No pun intended
  • @kovulion7777
Chad Smith basically made it 29 Seconds to Mars
  • @jay62418
The song starts playing at 1.19 and he first starts drumming at 1.53. He listened to the song for 34 seconds before improvising until 5.04 (3 mins 11 secs). He heard 15.11% of a song he had never heard before then followed the entire song. Incredible!
  • @larrykeach
This is the difference between a technical and a talented musician to me. He felt that shit and rocked it off of pure talent and time honing his craft. You love to see someone lock in like that
  • @hlauterb2011
As someone who absolutely loves this song, his version is scary accurate for someone who’s never heard the song before 😂
  • @sdrbox
He literally felt the song and that's why he anticipated every part. It was a masterclass from a true musician
  • @fatalynn7
I’ve just spent the last hour and a half on a complete rabbit whole of these videos. Being completely amazed. Then comes Chad and breaks the freaking mold. Fucking legend!
  • @mccarjl
No active listening hearing. Active feeling and drumming. This was pure instinct and feel.
  • As much as i love Anchorman, Chad Smith is one of Wil Ferrell's best roles. He did so amazing here. Love that he just went straight into it.
  • @frethero19
If you had never heard the original version, you would 100% believe this was the original drums for this song. He immediately got the vibe
  • @truckermatt4603
I will never get over 1 how good he is and 2 how much him and will Ferrell look alike since they did the sketch on Conan
  • @raynbow3000
I think Chad Smith is the best improvisational drummer I have ever seen. He picked that shit up in 30 seconds and rolled with it. It only took him about a half a second to adapt to any sudden tone changes.
  • @BrandonToews
You're all in for a treat. Thanks to Chad for accepting the challenge!
  • @hangnail316
He’s the kind of drummer that makes you feel like a good guitarist.
