France in final stages of preparations for 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris

A perspective from a French citizen : a lot of us think we're about to be humiliated in front of the entire world. Our government are a bunch of pretentious assholes (I know you all think the French ARE a bunch of pretentious assholes in the first place, but I swear we're kindergarten level compared to these dudes) and they wanted to play it big and show off but the Paris Olympics are gonna be a mess because of their incompetence, so get ready for : - dysfunctional public transport : the "greater Paris subway system" that was supposed to be finished in time for the Games fails about 5 subway/train/bus lines short and the main existing lines are already overcrowded, - last-minute canceled events : the opening ceremony stretching for miles along the Seine is deemed too unsafe by the French Intelligence services (who could have guessed, right?) and will likely turn into an underwhelming B plan at the Stade de France. The swimming races in the Seine will also most likely be canceled because there's too much fecal matter in the river for it to be safe and they've known it for years, - General organizational mess : thousands of volunteers are still being "hired" for the Olympics but their accomodations and training haven't been thought of yet and they still haven't been told what their job is going to be for the Games - Insufficient secuity : they're having trouble recruiting enough cops/security to secure all the Olympics sites AND all the other touristic French areas that will still need being secured while the games are happening Oh and bless their hearts but most of our athletes suck (though I'm secretly crossing my fingers for our basketball team to do us proud). Happy Olympics everyone !

Hosting the olympics is a huge mistake. Only a minority if French is interested in those games. Most of the Parisians will leave to escape this mess.
