Started fossil hunting 2 yrs ago . Belemnites, ammonites, crinoids, shark teeth ....but sadly no trilobites.....yet! Which is good, as it gives me something to really look forward to. Thanks for a great talk. Ps. Can confirm that Richard Fortey 's book is fantastic 👍

Bout to go down some serious Sedimentological wormholes! 🙏🏼 Appreciate all your work, enjoyed it!

I think trilobites were the first fossils I ever saw pictures of and was instantly fascinated. (The dinosaur books of my childhood only showed the beasts as they were imagined to be alive, which... hasn't aged well.) Also it's just lovely to listen to people who clearly love what they're doing and want everyone else to know everything, too!

Futurist hunch: trilobites still exist in some kind of neotenic planktonic form, just a scant few mutations away from suddenly returning. I can dream, can't I?

Wonderful lecture, I've loved trilobites for decades. I dearly wish to, one day, get to a place where I could find one.

Trilobites are not only diverse, they make it indispensable for biologists to study how life in general is dependent on their evolution, like eukaryote., which took almost 2 billion years to make the next development.

I want a trilobite for my aquarium sooooo bad!

There's a slate deposit full of these near where i grew up in Germany. As a young lad i would go fossil hunting there and they are literally littered all over the place. As far as i know it's never been looked at by professionals.

Thank you, quite interesting. It is probably the first fossilI learned about. These should be represented in aquariums, along with the usual decor. Cheers from Dallas

I wonder if there were any fresh water trilobites? Were they all marine?

My late Grandfather, gave me a Trilobite back in the late 70s, but it died.😅

+1 for 27:37 where the trilobite is on its back.

Imagine a video from England that doesn't feel the need to constantly talk about England.
