Donald Trump may ditch JD Vance as VP after ‘damaging’ week

Published 2024-07-29
Speculation continues to grow over whether former US president Donald Trump will ditch JD Vance as his running mate after a “very damaging” week.

It comes as a 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson resurfaced last week, in which Mr Vance referred to Democrats like AOC and Vice President Kamala Harris as a ‘bunch of childless cat ladies’ who don’t have a stake in the future of the country.

The Republican vice president nominee has since defended his comments after facing backlash following the remarks he made back in 2021.

The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton joined Sky News host Chris Kenny to discuss the recent backlash the senator is facing and whether Trump will remove him from the ticket as the Republican vice president nominee.

“It’s been very damaging,” Mr Creighton said.

“I mean he's had to explain himself and as they say in politics if you’re explaining you're losing and there’s been a lot of explaining this week.”

The democrats need to explain a hell of a lot more!!
  • They should stop explaining themselves. Clinton called all Republicans deplorable’s, Nancy Pelosi has said way worse. They should just simply reference back their own words. Tell them when you stop with the petty insults we will too.

"Every person who pays close attention has got to be thrilled" by the pick, Tucker Carlson said. "Every bad person in Washington I've ever met was aligned against J.D. Vance."

Now Mainstream media is going after him like a rabbid wolverine. Just like they first started in on Trump. Here we go
  • @childebrand1
If he has to resign over one misunderstood comment from years ago, who would qualify?
  • @shredpow
This is a ridiculous non-issue. If that is all they have on him, he's doing great.
  • @KPI154
he is absolutley correct. I am a childlesss woman so have the right to agree to the bleeding obvious. So many of my ilk are as he describes. Go Vance keep speaking truth
  • @jason.martin

  • @user-zi5dr5mc8e

  • @MrAugust313
NO, no, no. Never. He's correct about the childless cat ladies. Taylor Swift, Kamala Harris, Whoppi Goldberg
  • @robk5427
Oh no...now he's not going to get the childless cat lady/low T men vote he was never going to get. Quick, act like a flailing democratic party with no plan.
  • And of course trust people who think Nikki Haley would have been a great VP pick for Trump to come up with such a stupid take.
  • @fantasizer8473
This compared to Kamala's faults is quite literally Child's play.
  • @apollocobain8363
If they ditch every candidate that CNN spins out of context they will need 100+ VP candidates.
  • @jennifer9047
I am a childless cat lady and Trump Vance has my vote!❤
  • @smokenjoeful
Childless cat ladies are angry he spoke the truth lmao
  • @egiking
I don't think it's a big deal when you are telling the truth even though it may not be popular or politically correct. Unlike Democrats it's not all about votes.
  • @anth0ny.S.123
Vance is absolutely right. It‘s just the brutal truth.
