  • Very insightful. I just learned that I've met hundreds of deaf women in my life without knowing it.
  • Okay but who leaves their personal belongings unattended in a public place
  • I have significant hearing loss and I knew right away she was deaf. It's an "invisible disability", as my audiologist calls it, especially if I don't wear my hearing instruments. I appreciate the awareness this short film no doubt has raised. Nicely done! :)

People are not obligated to engage with strangers. And even if someone is not deaf, or blind, maybe they're thinking of their own challenges or goals and don't want to engage with anybody. If you really must barge in on a person's "me time," offer a smile and if they make eye contact and smile back, you've broken the ice.

I met this girl a few years back.we were talking and she kept asking me to repeat myself. I got frustrated, and said damn are you deaf?she pulled her hair back and showed me her hearing aids. I could not apologize enough. I felt real low afterwards
  • A lot of people think I'm a snob cuz I don't say hi first or give eye contact. I have anxiety and I'm just super shy.
  • This touched my soul in a very meaningful way. This short clearly shows we’re ALL far from being perfect: no matter white, black, man, woman… it depicts how easily we can misunderstand others. Even if we have a perfect appearance on the outside, that doesn’t mean we’re free of imperfections. That lady had such a big heart out of guilt by leaving him the drawing… and mark my words: if I was him, I wouldn’t stop until finding her to say how sorry I am for this. Even though it’s scripted, I put myself on her shoes, and imagine the helplessness and suffering she felt when he unknowingly lashed out at her. God bless those who suffer in silence and can’t express themselves.
  • "I was just complementing. I'm not a creep." Even a girl with hearing ability wouldn't respond to that.
  • either she is the slowest drawer ever or he is the fastest runner.
  • I'm deaf but if someone sits down next to me I'm aware of their presence.

It's nice to see this film with such a wide range of emotions in a short time. I found it refreshing in many ways. It doesn't have to be real. It is hopeful.
  • Slightly unreal but so real at the same time. The presumption by so many of us that we know everything, know it all, justify our judgemental behaviour shows a complete lack of maturity, empathy and wisdom. Thankyou for shining a light on this important issue

This one hit home for me. I'm severely hearing impaired, and have been told by different people that "so and so thought you were ignoring them or being rude, and I told them she-can't-hear-you".

I volunteer to help the blind and the deaf and I've got to say that they are some of the most beautiful people you will ever meet.
  • can we talk about how someone left their backpack on a bench??
  • Even if she weren't deaf it would have been possible that she was just too engrossed in her drawing to have noticed someone was speaking to her. That happens with artists.
  • It’s a very good video. People judge so fast and forget to be present in the real situation. People give up quickly on their own desires, let's be more patient.
